Is it usually hard for you to adapt to a new course?
- Yeah, somewhat. It feels awesome when you actually get on the course. Everything is way bigger than it looks on the plans or on the sidelines. Makes you feel like a little kid again and I usually have trouble deciding which ramps to hit first. It's also kind of intimidating with shredders flying all over the place. I usually try to hit most of the ramps at least once just to get a feel. Usually I start to get a feel for it on the extra session day after the contest is over haha. Maybe this year it'll be easier to adjust, seeing as there is an extra practice day.
What do you think of the course design for the 2011 Simpel Session?
- It's unreal. Each year I feel like the park is the best one built yet. The way Wessel's mind works is amazing. The fact that he is able to design courses that are so well-rounded every single year, is awesome. I'm stoked on the whole course being bowled in. Seems like everything would flow even better than previous years.
Who do you think will rip during the Simpel Session practice session?
- Usually Ben Hennon is known to do some wild stuff to stoke the crowd way before the contest begins so him definitely. There's so many good riders, most everyone rips. It's awesome to just sit on the sidelines and watch what goes down.
Who do you think will do well in the comp?
- If I'd have to name a few names I'd say Dennis Enarson, Drew Bezanson and Garret Reynolds. They're just on a completely different level. Very consistent but also look at the course differently. In all honestly I think the dudes who have fun while shredding seem to do the best, regardless of placing - so that would really mean pretty much everybody. The course seems to be designed for Tom Dugan so as for having most fun, I think he'll be up there!
Do you plan on visiting any of the BMX movies that are playing during the week?
- Not too sure yet. Think I've seen most of the bike videos already. If it works out time-wise then some of the skate videos seem interesting. To anyone who's planning to go, I Love My Bicycle is one to watch, if you haven't already.
What about the parties? You going?
- I'm not much of a partier but I'll probably go check out at least one of them. The Simpel Session ones are a bit wild for my tastes but getting to hang out with friends and maybe meet some new people should make it fun.
Who will be the last one standing on the dancefloor?
- Seeing as I've never really hanged on the dancefloor, I really have no idea.
Do you have any other plans for the Simpel Session weekend?
I guess not. Just hope to make the most of it, hang out with friends, hopefully meet some people from all over and have a good time as always. It's an amazing event.
