got there like 8, and chilled out until the comp started. It was good to see a lot of riders showing up to enter, even BIGGGGGG wheels????? hahaha but it was a good time and taking the win for 2 years in a row felt even better! Then I got back in the car and drove back to Riverside, got to my house at 1:10 am. Not a bad day.
We hear mixed feelings about the jumps and the wind every year, what’s your take on this year’s situation?
Luke: It's a windy place so you kinda just gotta deal with the wind you know, it's gonna be before you even go to the comp. You know this in the back of your mind. And this year the jumps were fun, a lot of berms and even a 9 foot lip to party on. With a new set up rail jam it was good to watch.
Does a big crowd motivate you any extra?
Luke: For sure! The crowd is half the reason I go to a comp. To be able to involve a whole lot of people into your bmx run no matter street or dirt. It is just a good feeling to know your riding reaches the crowd and hopefully little kids bugg their parents to get them a BMX bike after a day out at a contests.
How big was the cheque at the end of the day?
Luke: It was big enough, I was just happy about the back to back wins as I've never done that before.
Being in Vegas, did you use up any of it that night? Or did you double it?
Luke: Aahahahah na for once in my life it was a day trip, in and out of Vegas. Just riding, no partying. I never did it before and don't think I'll do it again, I drove away looking at my mirror like mannnnnnn I'm not gonna party, hahhaha.
