doing double whip tailtaps on a 30lbs bike. Remember just seeing everything with a fresh set of eyes.
Though 2007 is high up there as well. Amazing line up that year with Joe Rich, Mirra, Harrington shining and just a colourful combination of riders from all over the planet. And I will never forget Chase Hawk blasting to the moon, still a vivid moment in my head, just being taken a back in absolute awe.
Joosep Nilk: I only saw the clip afterwards but this one time Kert Petersel spun 450 trying to three this monster of a stair and took it straight ragdoll to his shoulder and side. Slightly bruised but dusted it off and was back at it in a few weeks. Dedicaaaaation!
Have you ever totaled a car?
Joosep Nilk: Nope.
Did you ever get a fine for riding BMX?
Joosep Nilk: Yet to, thankfully, but then again very interested to find out what situation that could happen in.
What's your nickname?
Joosep Nilk: Joss
Who is the biggest legend you've seen at your local park?
Joosep Nilk: Danny Hickerson. That's a good good dude.
Last time you rode stoned/drunk?
Joosep Nilk: Can't recall, those are states of mind I prefer to keep separately.
Have you ever been caught by the police?
Joosep Nilk: I guess that depends on doing what. But yes, adolescent boredom was to blame there!
Worst BMX injury you've had?
Joosep Nilk: Probably wasn't the worst but it was definitely the ugliest. Managed to stem myself in the knee once on the first Spring day out riding in shorts. Got tangled up in turndown and split a 3 inch gash into my leg open right under the knee. Not a pretty sight at all.
Highest amount you paid for luggage?
Joosep Nilk: Actually haven't taken my bike on a plane yet. That needs fixing quick.
Stoked to be going to Simple Session?
Joosep Nilk: Always stoked. Every single year it succeeds in making you feel like a kid again.
Thanks to: Just a shout out to anyone living authentic and being an inspiration along the way. All the people close to me for quietly supporting my odd habits. Another shout out to the cosmic giggle!
