Travis is a likeable guy. I don’t think he has many enemies. He looks at life from the bright side and is enjoying the ride at the moment traveling around with his BMX bike knowing that in years to come it might not be the same. Travis was invited for the RedBull Circle Of Balance contest in Oberhausen where we caught up with him. He just came off a pro flatland win in Birmingham England at the BIKE 04 event. The money won there will help him on his 3 month stay in Europe before he’s going to Melbourne, Australia to stay there with his lady for another three months. BMX for Travis is not about the big bucks. Meeting people, hanging out with friends and discover new places is more like it for the Canadian. More on Travis right here:
Name: Travis Collier
Age: 20
Hometown: Vancouver, BC Canada
FATBMX: How many times have you been to Europe?
Travis: I think this will be the 3rd or 4th time.
FATBMX: What’s it for this time?
Travis: This time I’m here to hit every contest in the spring and early summer. I guess I’ll be here for about 2 to 3 months.
FATBMX: What’s the situation like in Oberhausen?
Travis: The situation is a dream. We get treated like kings. It seems strange sometimes. I just have to enjoy every second of it.
FATBMX: How does it feel to be part of this?
Travis: It’s overwhelming. I feel out of place in this contest because I don’t feel I’m in the same category as all the other riders, but it feels cool.
FATBMX: Did you ever think this would happen for flatland?
Travis: I guess I never really thought about it. I always just rode and had fun.
FATBMX: Would you like to see a series like this happen in the future?
Travis: I don’t know if that would be a good idea. If it became a common event then it wouldn’t be as special. We all know this event is special and it should stay that way.
FATBMX: Do you believe Joe Average would be interested in watching flatland if it was presented well enough?
Travis: Yes, I think so. But it would have to be flashy. It sucks that Joe can’t be interested unless it like that. Joe has a short attention span and has a very simple mind.
FATBMX: Do you make a living riding your bike?
Travis: Yes I do right now, but I have bigger plans for my life other than bike riding. Im just going to enjoy this bike “proâ€? thing and move on in the future. I would say riding is my life but it’s not the only thing in my life.
FATBMX: Who are your sponsors?
Travis: Wethepeople Bike Co., Vans Shoes, Ronin, Ten Pack Distribution, Indelible.
FATBMX: What’s your program like for the next few months?
Travis: I’m just going to be a gypsy here in Europe and then off to Australia to be a gypsy there with my girlfriend.
FATBMX: Have fun traveling!
