The top three of both disciplines will win prize money and the first place position of each will win a wild card into the pro comp over the weekend, battling with some of the world’s top BMXers, including Zach Shaw, Ruben Alcantara and Koji Kraft.
In addition to SNICKERS UK Friday, newly confirmed international BMX stars added to the SNICKERS BOWL weekend line up include:
-Zach Shaw - A veteran U.K. vert rider who placed third overall in the 2005 SNICKERS BOWL comp at Download. Zach hails from Harlow, Essex and clocks in at 35 years of age. Zach is credited with being the first rider to pull a backflip with a full 360 degree twist in a competition, a move which has since been dubbed the 'Zacflip.' In Shaw's spare time, he organises large scale BMX contests throughout the U.K. and competes all over the world.
-Ruben Alcantara - A 32-year old BMX legend from Malaga, Spain. Ruben rides for Terrible One, Fox Racing, Fly Bikes and Etnies, for whom he has a signature model shoe. Ruben placed fifth overall in the 2005 SNICKERS BOWL Comp at Donnington, and returns this year to adapt his trail-like style to the vert bowl. Ruben is credited with pioneering many unique and original tricks, including 360 double tailwhips.
-Matt Fairbairn - A 30-year old Australian transplant currently living in the U.K., he is known for his high, smooth barspin combos (including the infamous barspin 540), and took home multiple winnings from the 2005 SNICKERS BOWL Download Comp, including first place in the overall results and also first place in the Best Trick Comp. He will return to Donnington to defend his titles.
Now in its fourth incredible year, Download 2006 has already confirmed Tool, Metallica, Guns and Roses, Deftones, Korn, The Prodigy, and Funeral For A Friend, with more acts being announced on an ongoing basis.
