BMX superstars launch grand re-opening of Jaycee's BMX Park. GREENVILLE, NC, April 2006 - The Park that has become home to local BMX professionals for over a decade has just received a face-lift. On Saturday, May 6, Greenville Recreation & Parks will officially unveil the renovated Extreme Park. The event kicks off at 2 p.m in Jaycee Park and will be open to the general public at no cost. Local BMX professionals will be putting on a thirty minute demo followed by a raffle and autograph session. The event is to showcase the new park by the BMX riders; some of whom had a hand in the new design.
"The riders got together, formed a design group and came up with their suggested layout for the new and improved ramps," said
Boyd Lee, Director of Greenville Recreation & Parks.
Greenville is currently home to more than a dozen riders on the professional circuit and plenty more waiting for their shot. Several local riders are expected to attend the event including the likes of
Dave Mirra, Ryan Nyquist, Allan Cooke, Mike Laird, Josh Harrington, Rob Darden, Alistair Whitton and many more.
The Extreme Park located at Jaycee Park is open for in-line skating, skateboarding, and biking. In addition there is an inline hockey rink adjacent to the skate park. All participants must be registered to use the park.
