They´ve been tied after the first run, but after the third and Napolitan took the lead with a spectacular series of tricks (frontflip no hand, 360 tabletop, 360 superman seatgrap indianair and a backflip tailwhip). Third place went to Jean-Baptiste “JB” Peytavit.
Another highlight was the best trick contest, where all riders had 10 minutes to show their most spectacular tricks. Maddog proved himself to be the “master of ceremony” when he showed the open mouth crowd a front flip tail whip no hand.
On stage was the same level of adrenalin as in front of the stage. Local heroes Broilers had the crowd at the tip of their hands, while Pennywise proofed once again that their “Bro Hymn” is the (un) official theme song of the Telekom Playgrounds. The opener Danko Jones had the crowd rocking till the last row right from the beginning.

Huge jumps, a line up that´s good for any festival and standing ovations: The Telekom Playgrounds continue their way up to the top of Europe´s actions sports events. Last weekend the new season kicked off in Duisburg with an action sports contest on a world class level. The US-American Anthony Napolitan defeated his title in BMX Dirt Jump. Live on stage were local heroes Broilers, punk rock vets Pennywise and Danko Jones. “With the 5th anniversary event, the Telekom Playgrounds set again new standards” says general manager Lars-Oliver Vogt and explains “with more than 28.000 fans on facebook and a sold out show in Duisburg for the third time in a row, we are on the best way to become Europe’s biggest action sports event. The sports level was already the same as at any other major league event around the world.”
The BMX Dirt Jump final was a tight head-to-head between the Americans, Brett “Maddog” Banasiewicz and Anthony Napolitan.
