Press Release
BMXMasters 2005 in Cologne
The worldwide biggest BMX freestyle event at the
Cologne Youth Park (Kölner Jugendpark).
Duesseldorf/Cologne, January 12, 2005 From June 23rd to June 26th nearly 2,000 international BMX riders will meet again in Cologne. After successful and exciting world championchips in the years 1994, 1996, 2000, 2002 and 2004 Cologne will be the place for the start of the "BMXMasters", the new international major event in BMX sports.
The lifestyle-orientated companies Suzuki Automobile, Braun and adidas have already confirmed their participation. The BMXMasters will be planned and organized from the agency spielbetrieb, who organized already the Suzuki BMXWorlds in 2004.
During the four-day event 500 athletes will enter in five different disciplines: the international elite of BMX freestylers will compete in the disciplines Street, Miniramp, Vert, Flatland and Dirt to win some of the $ 30,000 prize money. Three classes are offered, Amateur, Master and Pro. In total more than 2,000 BMX athletes will be expected in Cologne.
Again in 2005 girls can compete in the disciplines Flatland and Street.
The BMXMasters is the only BMX competition in Europe, in which all five Freestyle disciplines take place.
The expected 23,000 visitors can join spectacular side events. Besides the BMX Party-Week with daily changing program, there will be „Best Trick Contests“, Barbecue, Night-Jump etc.
Several sponsors have already confirmed their engagement for the BMXMasters: partners are Suzuki Automobile, Braun and adidas, who are active supporters of BMX freestyle for several years.
Stephan Prantl, Managing Director spielbetrieb: „Cologne has an international reputation in the BMX scene and is without any doubt the BMX centre of Europe. 1984 for the first time a BMX competition took place in the Cologne Youthpark. 24 contests followed until today and made Cologne to the most important BMX event location in the world.
At all events the founders of spielbetrieb participated as athletes in the early years, later as organizers. The worlds’ top BMX athletes are part of the cologne events since more than a decade. Therefore it was time to label an own event, which can take place independent from a world championship.â€?
Robert Möller, Managing Director spielbetrieb: „Together with our partners we will aim to offer all visitors and participants a high-class event with high end sport performances and great shows.“
