The big Swoosh brand is trying hard to jump into the radder sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, wakeboarding and of course BMX. They've developed a team, some shoes that would have to work with these sports and they're creating an image that would have to fit that new direction. The Oncore is a Nike model in their 6.0 NKE range. We got sent a pair to test. I've never been a big Nike fan but giving the shoes a try is always possible. The sole is pretty stiff and feels kind of wide and flat. Feeling your pedal through the sole like in the old Vans is not an option here.

This takes some getting used to. The shoe is super comfortable but could have used a few vent holes. The tongue is thick but comfy and so is the heel section. The protection in the heel section doesn't seem to be present but for those never untying their shoes will love this. The looks? People buy the craziest coloured shoes these days and compared to those the Grey/Black/White Oncores are rather normal looking. It's not so much the looks, it's the brand you have on your feet. If they would have supported BMX for a long time, it would be a different story. Your shoes reflect who you are and what you do. Nike doesn't give that feeling to me. But hey, they're trying.
