The Mongoose/Hyundai Team proudly announces the athletes of its 2005 BMX Dirt/Vert/Street and Race teams.
“The guys on the Mongoose BMX team will be hard to beat in 2005, said Mongoose director of sports marketing, Travis Chipres. “This is the strongest Mongoose BMX team yet.
Dirt/Vert/Street:
Stevie McCann returns to the team as the world’s most exciting dirt and street rider. In 2004 Stevie took silver in Dirt and bronze in Street at the Gravity Games. Look for a whole new bag of tricks from Stevie on his signature model this year.
Simon Tabron returns as one of the top vert riders. Simon’s ready for a stellar year, having secured a silver medal at the X-Games and a 5th place finish at the Gravity Games.
Simon and his signature model won the Pro Vert FISE comp, took 1st at the US Soul Bowl, and ran 3rd at the UK Soul Bowl. He’ll be ready to rock in ’05.
Cameron White may be young, but he’s no red-shirt rookie: the kid can ride. In 2004 Cam took 4th place overall at the King of Dirt Pro Series Championship. He’s one of the hottest riders in BMX today and 2005 is his year to shine. Remember his name – you’ll hear it a lot this year.
Tim “Fuzzy Hall returns to the dirt and street scene as well. Fuzzy had a great 2004, competing at the Gravity Games on the dirt jumps he designed and built. Look for the Godfather to show the punks a thing or two on his signature model this year.
BMX Race:
On the race circuit,
John Purse is coming off yet another great year as the No. 1 AA Pro at the ABA Grands. John will continue to dominate the race scene as he heads into his 16th year racing as an AA Pro – the longest racing ABA pro of all time. John has 71 ABA AA Pro wins under his belt. Wow.
Racer and Road Manager
Eric Rupe is set to ride his Supergoose to victory again and again, as he did so many times in ’04. Rupe took top honors and the Master’s title at the NBL Grands and tasted sweet victory finishing No. 1 in the Veteran Pro Class at the ABA Grands. You can’t stop him; you can only hope to contain him.
Mongoose also boasts a traveling stunt show team that performs weekly at nationwide locations. Riders perform on a half-pipe, a quarter-pipe, a box jump and demonstrate flatland riding during the show to amaze both new and old BMX fans. From sold-out NBA halftime shows to local bike shop promotions, the Mongoose stunt show team does it all with style.
