Vans, the original action sports brand, expands its range of innovative Mountain Edition Footwear for holiday 2014. Debuting in fall with a small, six-piece assortment of upgraded Vans Classics models, the holiday offering of Mountain Edition product grows with additional styles from the Vans California Collection and Vans Surf categories. Designed for the elements, Vans Mountain Edition Footwear
upgrades the build of each silhouette from the ground up. Starting at the original waffle sole, the mold is reversed and raised to create an extended lug outsole maximum grip in wet terrains and snow. Above the outsole and beneath the sockliner, a heat retention layer is paired with thermal materials to keep feet dry and warm. Scotchgard™-treated uppers put the finishing touches on the advanced designs, repelling liquid and moisture from the surface areas.
Vans Classics returns with eight weatherized colorways including the Era MTE, Sk8-Hi MTE and introducing the Old Skool MTE. The Era MTE surfaces in two earth-toned variations – Castlerock/Tobacco Brown and Forest Night/Tobacco Brown – outfitted in pig suede, leather and wool. The Old Skool MTE and Sk8-Hi MTE exhibit the same material mix across Black/Tobacco and Decadent Chocolate/Tobacco Brown color-ups. Additionally, the Sk8-Hi MTE rounds out the Classics collection with two women-specific styles in Black and Tan featuring knitted geometric trim accents.
Elevating the aesthetics of the Mountain Edition range, the Vans California Collection presents premium editions of the Mid Skool MTE CA and Old Skool MTE CA. Influenced by outdoor boots, the Mid Skool MTE CA is brought forth in supple leather and nubuck editions detailed with hiking laces and metal eyelets. The Old Skool MTE CA follows up with a sophisticated set of low-tops that showcase leather mudguards beneath Vans’ iconic Sidestripe and waxed canvas paneling above the coveted mark.
Inspired by the laidback coastal lifestyle and instilled with Vans’ design heritage, Vans Surf brings forth the Aldrich MTE, Fairhaven MTE and Mid Slip MTE in weather-treated forms. Covered in water-repellent suede and lined with fleece, each style offers protection from the elements while providing a relaxed fit with every wear.
