a contest inviting aspiring BMX athletes to show off their talent in an edit. The Mongoose Pro Team chose Evans from among so many great videos. They were stoked on his mix of park and street riding.
It wasn’t guaranteed that Adrian would make it onto a team once he got to camp, but it was his style and tricks such as his suicide to tuck no-hander that landed him a spot on a pro team.
After the judges picked the top five riders, campers participated in a blind draw to find their Mongoose team for the week.
"I love seeing how incredibly stoked the campers are. They’re always having the time of their lives,” said Team Illingworth captain Greg Illingworth. “You can see how inspired they get by riding with the pros.”

With the official start to the fourth annual Mongoose Jam (the second in Tehachapi, CA) tomorrow, fifteen Woodward West campers competed in an amateur park contest today for a coveted spot on one of five Mongoose Jam pro teams. Once again, each team will be captained by Mongoose athletes Steve McCann, Greg Illingworth, Paul Ryan, Ben Wallace, and Kevin Peraza. Woodward West’s Hangar was filled with campers supporting riders as they squared off. The competition was a jam format. The fifteen campers were broken out into three heats. Each heat had a chance to showcase their skills to the camp judges while the pros watched on. Riders were allowed one best trick to wrap up their sessions.
Campers threw down like the pros with backflips, double truck drivers, flairs, and more. In the end, Bryce Tryon, Chase Pauza, Jamal Nelson, Adrian Evans, and Felipe Trujillo will be riding with their team captains tomorrow starting with the Dirt contest.
