PRESS RELEASE – SAN DIEGO, CA Big News from Avent/Bombshell, Awesome Trips, New Products, Donny Robinson Update, Upcoming Events, We have it all!
We have been really busy over here. Last weekend was awesome. Went to the
DC Sprint Trails Event. Randy came home with the win, proving that Bombshell forks are the precision level fork for top pros. The way he was carving those turns, you would have thought it was Thanksgiving. Mike Day gave him a run for his money with the fastest qualifying time. No matter though Randy made it over the finish literally going over his bars in the final race to beat Day. It was a great event, thanks to Danny Meadows for taking care of the track and Dwayne over at DC for putting the event on and thanks to the Stumpfhauser's for letting them put the event on and all the hard work they put in. We'll be looking forward to next year.
ABA Great Northwest National in Pasco was good too. A Pro Adam Treadwell was flying all weekend, took home second both days. The National Team got 3rd on Saturday and 4th on Sunday. Thanks to Kim and the whole BMXHEX Family.
Went out to Reedley for the
NBL Airtime National. We were very happy to be the only Manufacturer there. Maurice Horton went hard all weekend, coming away with two 2nd's on Saturday and taking a first home on Sunday. Thanks to Reedley BMX and the NBL for having us, the track was awesome, and special thanks to Linda. Sorry we didn't bring enough t-shirts and stickers for everybody, catch us at the next race.
We had the
2006 Prototype Disc Frame on display. The advantage of a disc frame is smoother pull on brakes. The disc brake provides more consistent performance with less maintenance than a v-brake. No adjustments needed for different weather and track conditions. Frame weight stays consistent, but you save on average 300 grams on a disc brake caliper versus a v-brake. No stress on wheels or having to replace rims. Mountain Bikers have realized the advantage of disc brakes, it's now time for them to cross over into BMX, and Avent is at the forefront. American Engineered, no unreliable adapter necessary, disc mount built right onto the frame. Frame will be packaged with a Bombshell Disc hub or wheel at competitive prices. Riders will be able to use 140mm or 160mm rotors along with choice of mechanical or hydraulic calipers. Avent wants to stress "Advanced Cycling Technology" and provide riders with the equipment they need to perform at the highest level of competition.
Also on display were our new
F1 forks. Look for your favorite Pros to be riding this new fork, Javier Colombo, Randy Stumpfhauser, Jason Richardson, Tony Harvey(AUS), and soon Jason Rogers, Donny Robinson, and Scott Taylor(AUS). The F1 is the culmination of over 7 years of BMX fork design built into one fork. Finite element computer designed with real world refinements. Light weight all CNC machined crowns. CNC machined leading axle dropouts. Tapered all carbon fiber fork legs. Ultra strong 7075 steer tubes. Bombshell Forks are engineered and assembled here in the USA. It takes 15 American jobs to bring you the highest performance level forks, as apposed to other forks not made in the USA. F1’s are available in Black, Red, or Blue crowns and dropouts.
Some of you got a sneak peek at our
2006 Pro Color Rims in White and Polished. It doesn’t get any better than taking the best rims and wheel sets on the market and personalizing them. It’s what you wanted and we listened.
Also some of you have asked if we have packages for the
Avent Morpheus and Avent Factor frames. We want you to know we are hard at work on the matter and are in negotiations. Look for more updates and news on this coming soon.
You may have seen the new 2005 apparel this weekend. We have all new t-shirts and sweatshirts, so you can look good off the track as well. Sweatshirts are 100% Cotton Heavy Duty Hanes® Black with screened logos. screened in the USA and retail for $34.99US. T-shirts are $19.99US and screened in the USA.
Here is also an update from
Donny Robinson himself. You can read more about him on his new bio page at www.bombshellparts.com “Hello to everyone! I have been doing very well. It's been 4 weeks exactly since my broken collarbone in Phoenix, AZ and 3 weeks and 4 days since the surgery I had to repair the collarbone. They put a plate on my collarbone to help it both heal faster and to protect from breaking it again so easily. I have a killer looking scar but it's not as gnarly as the two my teammate and friend Jason Rogers has! I have been riding my bike for 5 days and working in the gym to get all my surrounding muscles strengthened. I have not lost any speed as I've been training the whole month. I'm leaving for two NBL Florida races on Thursday (yes I know it's so soon but I feel great and am confident in my ability). I just want to thank everyone for their kind words and even though I never left...I'm back! See everyone soon!
