Scotty Cranmer came out to California this week to shoot a Panasonic commercial. I have seen a few TV commercials being filmed but this was crazy. He flew in Monday afternoon and shot some stuff down in the San Diego area. The plan was to hit some skateparks but the no bikes rule shut them down, the next thing you know and Scotty is tailwhippng over a dumpster using a shady piece of scrap wood as a ramp.
The next plan was to hit the Etnies skatepark of Lake Forest on Tuesday, Tuesday is not a bike day so the film crew made a donation to the City of Lake Forest and they let them film from 8:00am to 10:00am before they opened. There was 23 people working on the
project to get it filmed, film cameras, still cameras, video, sound people, a food person, Panasonic people and ad agency people. Above the crazy amount of people on the project was Scotty's riding. He did a 360 whip over a spine and they got all excited, he did this about 20 times from different angles and everyone was perfect to pedals.
Another shot was a feeble grind to 180, once again 20 times without one screw up. The last shot was a flip with a camera mounted on his bars. This lasted for two shots because on the 2nd one the camera ripped off its mount ripping the bottom of the camera off, lucky for the camera owner it was a Panasonic... Then it was back to the airport for him to fly home, home for one day then off to England for Bike 2005. He gets back next week, home for one day then off to a road trip from Reno, NV to Canada for a video Mirra is working on.
