that the previous version required. This quick turnaround makes it possible for Nitro Circus Live to embark on its ambitious 2016 tour schedule.
The new Giganta ramp and the Nitro Circus crew had to overcome extremely adverse conditions Friday. In the afternoon a sudden rainstorm hit the area, triggering lightning warnings and soaking the stage set. Wind gusts of 30-mph also swept through the stadium. Wind and rain persisted until just before show time, but after quick work from Nitro's expert production team, the show went off without a hitch and the ramp passed its first test with flying colors.
Nitro Circus Live athletes defied the elements and gave Albuquerque fans their best, throwing down huge tricks all night long that had the crowd on its feet all night long. BMX legend James Foster, who only a week earlier fractured his wrist in training, made an epic comeback to attempt the tremendously dangerous triple backflip. Colton Satterfield stuck a double backflip no hander, making the sketchy trick look easy. Multiple X-Games medalists Adam Jones, Nate Adams and Mike Mason also bravely performed the biggest tricks in FMX, despite the 5,000-foot altitude making all motorized tricks extremely unpredictable and dangerous. The audience was also both stunned and delighted to see a new set of crazy contraptions including a 300-pound lounge chair, a vintage penny farthing, a drink cooler and a shopping cart steered by an inline skater.
"At its core, Nitro Circus is about progression and overcoming boundaries, and tonight definitely highlighted both," Michael Porra, Nitro Circus CEO and creative director, said after the show. "This new Giganta ramp gives us the opportunity to bring the full Nitro Circus Live experience to fans who have not been able to experience it before. We couldn't be more excited about that. And I am so proud of the guys for going all-out under incredibly challenging conditions."
