For 2008, Elevation has been welcomed by the beautiful Parque Metropolitano. The park is a regular weekend destination for thousands of Guadalajara residents who want to picnic or barbeque. “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw the park. It’s an amazing spot for Elevation. It has a trails like feel, the perfect slope and it even has an existing sprinkler system that we can use for water.” said event creator and organizer Jay Miron. “Elevation at Parque Metropolitano is gonna be a blast for the stacked list of riders we’ve invited out for this year” continued Miron. Everyone who’s anyone in the dirt jumping community will be coming in from all over the world. The past three years have seen the sports two best dirt-jumpers (Ryan Nyquist and Corey Bohan) battle it out for the top spot. Will these two battle for the win again, or will someone else step up in 08? Australian superstar Luke Parslow, who finished third in 05 and a very close second in 06, and American Chris Doyle who has finished top five in every Elevation are always contenders.
Riders will be competing for a $35,000USD purse. A panel of veteran judges, including Ryan Barrett, Matt Beringer, John Povah, Nuno Oliveira and Tim “Fuzzy” Hall will evaluate riders on height, style, smoothness and tricks. Regardless of who takes the win, the show will surely prove to be amazing and definitely not one to be missed. The competition begins with practice on Friday May 9, Qualifying on Saturday May 10 and finals on Sunday May 11.
