New Skatepark Officially Named The Mat Hoffman Action Sports Park Of Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY - Passed by the Oklahoma City Council and Oklahoma City Parks Commission, local BMX icon Mat Hoffman now has a skatepark after his namesake-
"The Mat Hoffman Action Sports Park of Oklahoma City". The 26,000 square-foot concrete public park opened in February with Mat Hoffman in attendance. From May 13-May 15, Oklahoma City and the new park will proudly host for the first time Mat Hoffman's Crazy Freakin' Bikers (CFB) Series Presented by Target. The event, which is in its sixth year, is a BMX Freestyle competition that will bring together more than 300 professional and amateur athletes from more than eight countries. Admission to the public is free.
Mat Hoffman's CFB Series presented by Target offers amateur and professional levels of competition in the Park, Vert and Dirt Jump BMX Freestyle categories. Up for grabs is more than $30,000 in prize money to the professional athletes, as well as, prizes and trophies to the professional and amateur athletes. The event will be staged at S.W. 17th Street and South Robinson near downtown Oklahoma City.
"We are so excited to have this new skatepark in Oklahoma City, and it is a great honor to have the park named after me," said Hoffman. "We can't wait to bring our friends from all over the world to our hometown to celebrate the park and the city with our event in May. We hope there will be more events to come in the future."
Mat Hoffman's CFB Series presented by Target and co-sponsored by Right Guard was established in 2000 and is organized by Hoffman Sports Association which is headquartered in Oklahoma City. BMX Freestyle riders work on the CFB event in all aspects of the series from organizing, filming and judging. The series is hosted by Mat Hoffman, who provides a direct reflection of the sport to the mainstream. The series will air on primetime spots on Fox Sports Net and Fox Fuel.
