The first day of the Suzuki BMXMasters has already broken all records. A mixture of clouds and sun guaranteed perfect conditions for very extreme BMX action. The highest starter numbers in the history of the masters are extreme as well. Some of the more than 500 riders took it easy during the first day and tested this year's extraordinary dirt and street tracks. Some others already showed their best to qualify for their finals. The girl qualification has to take place on Saturday before the finals because over 120 experts

and 90 master riders busted the given timetable. Same thing applies to the girls flatland and the amateur vert qualification. The Braun Cruzer Spine Miniramp has already been ripped today by the pros. Nerves of steel are also necessary for the six massive jumps of the dirt line, especially when the pros take speed directly after the curved bank to get some airtime of 10 meters.

Arrival of the Condor

The biggest freestyle BMX rider ever, Mat Hoffman, arrived in the Jugendpark Cologne Friday afternoon. Due to a shoulder injury unfortunately he can't participate in the vert contest, but he will support the moderation with his pro know how. His colleague Kevin Robinson (34) will be a worthy replacement of him. With 8,10 meters he set a new Highest Air world record in Central Park NY three weeks ago and by this beat his friend Mat Hoffman by 15 centimeters.
