Skateboard Legends hit the Soulbowl in HB

Skateboard Legends Jam In the late eighties when BMX freestyle wasn't all that big I used to skate quite a bit. I forgot how much until I started re-reading the early FAT-'zines which have a good percentage of skateboarding in it. Next to the BMX mags I read Thrasher, watched the Bones Brigade videos, went to contests and enjoyed some demos. The bigtime skaters had their own decks

on brands like Santa Cruz, Powell & Peralta, and Vision and were marketed well through the mags and videos.

During the SoulBowl in Huntington Beach some of these all time favorite skaters dropped into the bowl for the Legends skateboard jam. If you skated back in the day you will probably remember some of the names that made it to HB last weekend: Lester Kasai, Tony Magnusson, Mike McGill, Steve Caballero, Duane Peters, Ben Schroeder, Eric Nash, Steve Alba (47!), and Henry Guitterez. With Dave Duncan on the microphone and more skateboard pros in the judging panel it was a bit of a reunion for them as well. Anyway, I traveled back in time and enjoyed watching the session.
