Freestylin' book to keep me occupied. Anyway, straight to this week's news with UK contributor David "DJ" Jones:
-Errrr.... OK, After last weeks delayed news that the Darden is back on Haro it's now been announced that he will join Josh Harrington (best all rounder in the world?), Garrett Reynolds, JJ Palmere & Ty Morrow on the Premium Pro team. Either way, no matter who he's riding for Rob Darden is on form!
-Other Haro related news is that team rider Ben Hucke was pistol whipped & robbed of his phone, wallet & ID by 3 guys. He got his shit back & the guys were caught but it still sucks ass, get pistol whipped is never a good thing.
-Ronnie Remo is following in the footsteps of his illegitimate son Mark Webb onto the UK Bike Co. team also, I spotted a Ronnie Remo signature tyre recently (check out the pic) apparently it's big in Hamburg?
-The UK's Team Extreme has a new transportable 6ft spine mini ramp that is travelling the country doing shows... hopefully pics soon.
-Even though you've read Bart's event report from T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds I thought I'd tell you Ben Hennon took one to the face in practice & couldn't ride his semi final which sucked. Hennon has been on fire this year. The injury put him into the hospital for a few hours which sucked even more because he didn't get to get on stage with PENNYWISE with the rest of us!!! Ooooooo Oooo Ooooo Oooooooo!!!!
-Extreme Playgrounds winner Harry Main is thinking over a M-energy drink deal as we speak. Check out the ads for the new company Powerthirst on youtube, you won't be disappointed.
-And I'm going to finish up with the same thing as last week: My copy of the Freestylin' book was here when I got home from Hamburg, I don't think I've been that excited about anything for a LONG time! The book was given out in the US to a "selected few" & only 2500 made. It's a great item but it's a shame they weren't given out to all the right people but thankfully thanks to some decent people in BMX it's making it into the right hands. Thank you again to Will @ DIG magazine & my shaven bodied hero Chris Job.
Thanks DJ!
-Andrew Muir wanted to have his photo on the FATBMX website. Well, here it is Andrew. Not only did it make it on the FATBMX site, it got sent to over 1000 people with the FAT Newsflash. I hope you can still walk the streets without being recognized all the time.
-If you want to check how your bike will look before ordering all the colored parts that you have in mind, you should check out the Paint Your Bike Customizer that the people at Strictly BMX came up with. It lets you color the frame and the parts so you know how colorful it will look before getting our hands on a spray can or sending off that partsorder list. Go HERE to check it out.
-The 2009 bikes are about to be shown off at the Eurobike trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Next week Thursday the doors will open for the first time and we can't wait to see the new bikes from Hoffman, Redline, Mirraco, Felt, KHE, Fly, United, Mongoose and others.
-A new forum for Bicycle Talk in Ohio has been started. It is very new and I'd like to ask that you take a look at it. We have a special section devoted to BMX racing, events and discussions. You may register, it's free, and post your upcoming races, results of the races, any other BMX events are also welcome. You may also post pictures of your track, club, riders, volunteers, etc. Membership is not limited to just the organizers, young riders and everyone else is invited. If you like to ride a bike, you're welcome to join. There are no strings attached. It's completely free, and always will be free. You may access the site HERE.
-Harry Main has a new video up. The Mpora stuff is weird so here is the link. 720 tailwhip!
-Congrats to Lori for winning that XBox 360 in the T-Mobile Extreme Playground contest. The correct answer was A) Smart. Mike Dominguez is riding a SMART! We saw it happen so you better believe it.
-The Summer Session Miniramp comp in Pinneberg, Germany last weekend was won by Harry Main. Dave Osato finished second and la Finca's Sergej Geier got third. Right before the finals a bunch of us went on stage with Pennywise and DJ managed to film the whole ordeal. We manged to make it in Freecaster's Highlights of the event as well. Haha, good times.
-We received our copy of the Freestylin' book and we're damn stoked on that. If you are less fortunate here is the next best thing. The book is now online. Check it by following this link.
-DC has a new website up. Also the new éclat web site is now live.
-Tobias Wicke is out for the next 6 months because of an injury on his leg. He does not know how to kill all that time so if you have any suggestions, contact him through one of his sponsors.
-Have you seen Brad Simms' prototype frame from Hoffman Bikes?
-We are not afraid to party. Red Bull X-Fighters afterparty pics are online now.
-Mark Koenig had a bad crash over the spine at the T-Mobile Extreme Playground Summer Session. It looked like he tore something in his knee or messed something up but fortunately his own doctor back home told him it was okay for him to ride the shows at the IFA next week.
