Sorry about the massive Mini FAT-JAM promotion this week but we've got to compete with 7 other BMX events this year that are taking place at the same weekend. It seems difficult to look at the FATBMX Event calendar to come up with a date that is still free. Whatever, better 8 events on one day, than no happenings at all. The FAT-JAM and the skatepark opening in Jena, Germany are the only events that are taking place outdoors and yes, the sun has shown its face. Let's get this outdoor season going! Here's the BMX news of this week. Be up to date when you meet with the boys this weekend.

-Here is a shot of Supercross BMX's AA Pro Kris Fox being the first one to clear the massive 42ft set of Triples at the brand new Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. Imagine hitting that jump at 32mph plus, clipped in going to Blacktop, and being the first one to do it! This kid is the real deal!

-Lots of April Fools jokes going on earlier this week. No Guettler isn't coming to the Mini FAT-JAM but we had people in doubt. No April Fools joke is a new BMX company in Germany called Stereo.

-We posted over 25 movies this week. You can find them all by hitting the Believe it, or not!? button. Upload yours to a video player and send us a link. The more than decent ones will make it on the FATBMX site.

-The BMX Life Fund is kicking off a fund raiser launch event party in Pittsburgh, Pa April 11th to get things started for 2009. This will benefit Mike Aitken, Stephen Murray, and riders that sustain life changing injuries in the future that need family, medical help. Tons of raffles will also be going down from sponsors like Oakley, Skullcandy, Rockstar, and Vans to name a few at the event. Also a video premier from Pawoods.com DVD Summer 08" to get the word out to help save Catty Wood Trails! This will definitely be a great time, and worth checking out!

-Willoughby, Ohio resident and owner of Solon Bicycle in Solon, Ohio, Dan Sirkin, will be hosting a BMX Freestyle Reunion festival on July 18th, 2009 from 11am to 6pm. In the mid 80's to early 90's, Randy Loop of Columbus, Ohio assembled BMX Freestyle competitions that were held all across the country. The bulk of his efforts were concentrated in the Columbus region, however. His competitions consistently showed some of the strongest turnouts of any event series going at the time. Over the years, many of these riders ended up becoming sponsored by major bike companies. Some of these riders stuck with it throughout the 90's when the sport died while others just quit riding altogether. Dan Sirkin, a former nationally ranked flatland freestyle ride, who rode for Haro Bikes, has never stopped riding. Although the actual amount of time spent riding is much less these days, he still feels the same thrill as when he was much younger. Recently, he reconnected with many of the riders from the past and decided to host this reunion, called the East Central Reunion Jam. While many of these riders from the past are now located all across the country, they are quickly booking flights to come out to the event and dust off their bikes in hopes of getting back into the game. "This is not only a great way for us to catch up on old times, but also to promote a healthy lifestyle through biking," commented Dan Sirkin. Expected turnout is about 100 riders.
