Fans Choose Mike Laird As Winner After Flawless Double Tailwhip 360 at Tour's Right Guard Open
The Dew Action Sports Tour, the first-ever, season-long professional multi-sport tour in action sports, today announced the winner of the PlayStation Trick of the Week Award from the Right Guard Open.
Mike Laird won Trick of the Week with his perfect double tailwhip 360 during BMX Park Finals.
"Winning the PlayStation Trick of the Week is great;
it's almost like winning the contest," said Laird. "I knew I had to pull a trick that people don't see consistently - and I landed it in both prelims and finals."
Laird beat out another BMX Park Finals competitor, Ryan Guettler, who executed a fantastic 720 over the box backwards. That trick was enough for him to win the competition, but not to take the PlayStation Trick of the Week. Freestyle Motocross rider Jeremy Stenberg's backflip with a can-can landing during FMX Finals also had him in the running, as the trick was one of the toughest backflip variations landed during the contest. Jamie Bestwick's downside flair whip brought the crowd in Denver to its feet during the BMX Vert Finals, and helped him win the Vert contest. Jereme Rogers landed a perfect backside lipslide during Skateboard Park Finals.
In the end, the online community chose Mike Laird's trick as the best.
Laird wins $5,000 and will compete for the PlayStation Trick of the Year versus all the other Trick of the Week winners from other Dew Action Sports Tour events, including the VansR Invitational (August 18-21) and Toyota Challenge (September 8-11). Online polls open on the last day of each event.
Polls will be open throughout the week of the PlayStation Pro (October 13-16), when online voters will choose the PlayStationR Trick of the Year winner from the four Trick of the Week winners. The winner will be announced during the Dew Action Sports Tour NBC broadcast on Sunday, October 16. This athlete will take home $10,000 in cash as well as other PlayStationR prizes.
