On Thursday, November 19, the Xbox 360® Get Up Tour will coincide with the American Cancer Society's 33rd annual Great American Smokeout, the nationally recognized platform to educate the public on the dangers associated with tobacco use and to encourage smokers to quit for a lifetime by starting with just one day. Decked out with materials from the American Cancer Society, Tour athletes will encourage the Los Angeles High School students to take the first step toward a healthier lifestyle by throwing away their cigarette packs – at least for the day – and wearing “Teens Kick Ash” t-shirts in support of the Great American Smokeout. For more information on the Great American Smokeout, visit cancer.org.
The 2009 fall Xbox 360® Get Up Tour rounds out the 10-year anniversary of ASA's commitment to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, which has directly impacted more than 1,000,000 students. In celebration of its success, Tour producer ASA Entertainment and Xbox are conducting a “Photo of the Week” contest in each city. Photos of students participating in the Xbox 360® Get Up Tour event will be posted online at GetUpTour.com. One photo will be selected each week and posted in the “Xbox 360® Photo of the Week” online gallery. The student featured in that photo will win an Xbox 360® console.
