This three-stop tour launched in Japan, moved to France, and concluded in Shanghai, China, showcasing both Park and Flatland disciplines. Heading into the Shanghai finals, France’s Anthony Jeanjean (Park Men) and Laury Perez (Park Women) held the lead in their categories, while Japan’s Yu Shoji and Nina Suzuki led the Flatland rankings. However, with 1,000 points still up for grabs, the final standings were still undecided. In the season finale at Westbund Dome Art Center, the 26-year-old Olympic athlete from Béziers, France, secured enough points in overall rankings to claim his career-first UCI World Cup title in the BMX Freestyle Park discipline. From October 16-20, 2024, the UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup finals in Shanghai crowned overall World Cup Champions in Freestyle and Flatland disciplines. In the Park discipline, the top 72 riders from across the world battled for the top spots in men’s and women’s competitions in the last stop of the World Cup season.

The UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) – the training and education centre of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) based in Aigle, Switzerland – is pleased to announce that its first Continental Development Satellite located in China was officially inaugurated today in Shanghai, in the presence, notably, of UCI President David Lappartient, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach and the President of the Chinese Olympic Committee and Director of China’s General Administration of Sports Gao Zhidan. The Shanghai Velodrome was awarded the UCI WCC Continental Development Satellite label by decision of the UCI Management Committee on 2 February this year. It is the ninth UCI WCC Satellite in the world and the fourth in Asia alongside those of Shuzenji (Japan), Yeongju (Korea) and New Delhi (India). The other Satellites are in South Africa (Paarl), Canada (Bromont), New Zealand (Cambridge), Portugal (Anadia) and Trinidad and Tobago (Couva).
The Shanghai UCI WCC Continental Development Satellite is located on Chongming Island, within a major multi-sport education and training centre created in 2019 and covering an area of almost 56 hectares. It includes a 250-metre indoor velodrome, a BMX Racing track, a BMX Freestyle park, training roads and a weights room. The centre also has athlete accommodation and a restaurant.
The Shanghai Velodrome will host the UCI Track World Championships in 2026, while Chongming Island is known in the cycling world for hosting the annual Tour of Chongming Island, a women's stage race that has been on the UCI Women's WorldTour calendar since 2017.
The Olympic Qualifier Series, brings together the best athletes in BMX Freestyle, Breaking, Skateboarding and Sport Climbing in a single urban park. The compact events, held over four days, offer fans an immersive Olympic experience that merges sport, art, music and culture. The Shanghai stop on the Series is taking place at the Huangpu Riverside from 16 to 19 May 2024, while the Budapest event will take place at the Ludovika Campus from 20 to 23 June 2024. The two-part Series, taking place in the period leading up to the Olympic Games, will be an important step in determining which athletes qualify for Paris 2024.

This exciting event is set to take place in West Bund, Xuhui Binjiang, on October 17, 2024, ushering in a new era of urban sports excitement. The "FISE World Series" traces its origins back to 1997 in Montpellier, France, where it was conceived and organized by the French company, Hurricane Group. It has since evolved into the world's premier urban sports festival, spotlighting a diverse range of urban sports disciplines. Notably, this includes Skateboarding, Freestyle BMX, which have secured their places in the official program of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with Breaking (street dance) set to captivate audiences at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
