FISE World Series to Shanghai for the first time. “For nearly 30 years, I’ve traveled the globe sharing my passion for Urban Sports. Among all the stories we’ve built worldwide, the one with China stands out as my greatest pride. The energy and enthusiasm of Chinese youth are unparalleled, and we are thrilled to bring FISE to Shanghai this year,” he said.
AN INTERNATIONAL EVENT IN THE HEART OF SHANGHAI
The FISE World Series is a premier event in the world of urban sports, drawing the top athletes from around the globe. The Shanghai edition will feature six disciplines, including five World Cup events: UCI BMX Freestyle Park, UCI BMX Flatland, World Skate Roller Freestyle Park, World Skate Scootering Pro Tour Street and WDSF Breaking For Gold Series. These competitions will take place on world-renowned infrastructures designed by Hurricane Group, ensuring a top-tier experience for both elite athletes and amateurs. The FISE Skateboard Street competition will see the world's best riders competing against each other, and will take on an even bigger dimension as the winners of the Men & Women contest will automatically earn their place for FISE : Battle of the Champions, the invitation-only event bringing together the world's greatest skateboarders, to be held in Macau in March 2025.
Fans can look forward to seeing some of the world's best riders in action, including Anthony Jeanjean, a FISE-born talent who recently won bronze at the Paris 2024 Olympics and currently leads the World Cup standings in BMX Freestyle Park. Julien Cudot, who claimed victory at the FISE Montpellier's Roller Freestyle Park World Cup, will also be competing in Shanghai, as will Richard Tury, 5th at the Paris Olympics and winner of the 2018 FISE World Series Chengdu in Street Skateboarding.
A UNIQUE CULTURAL EXPERIENCE AT WEST BUND
The West Bund in Xuhui District, with its rich sporting heritage and modern facilities, is the perfect venue for the FISE World Series Shanghai. This iconic location offers nearly 9 kilometers of running, walking, and cycling trails, a Skateboarding Park, basketball courts, and climbing walls, providing an ideal backdrop for the thrilling competitions.
Chen ANDA, Deputy manager of Shanghai West Bund Development Group, said at the press conference: "Extreme sports are what we call 'urban sports' – which can spread into the urban area combined with fashion, arts, music and virtual sports. So, our cooperation with FISE includes not only this competition, but also IP development, online media products, music and even video games design and development, all the way to the construction of an industrial ecosystem."
Beyond the sports, FISE World Series Shanghai will offer a full cultural experience with a music festival, food courts, a Kids Zone, and the T&ARTCON exhibition featuring fashion, art, and comics. A special highlight will be the Pokémon card competition, adding a unique touch to this urban sports festival.
