The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announces that the composition of its Athletes' Commission will be renewed in 2025. The new members will be elected by their peers at the 2025 UCI World Championships for the different cycling disciplines represented on the commission. Since 2017, the commission has been made up of 20 members, with each of the included disciplines BMX Racing, BMX Freestyle, road, track, mountain bike cross-country, mountain bike downhill, para-cycling, cyclo-cross, trials and indoor cycling – represented by two riders (one man and one woman).
The members will be elected for a term of four years, which will take effect at the 2025 UCI Elective Congress, to be held in conjunction with the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Kigali (Rwanda), or at the time of their election for those who are elected after the event in Kigali. The term for all members will end at the following Elective Congress, on the occasion of the 2029 UCI Road World Championships in Denmark.
The President of the UCI Athletes' Commission, a position currently held by Katerina Nash (Czechia), the female representative for cyclo-cross, is elected by the members of the commission and sits on the UCI Management Committee, the executive body of our International Federation, which operates under the authority of the Congress.
The commission has an advisory role which enables it to submit proposals to the UCI Management
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is delighted to announce that four riders (two women and two men) are candidates for the role of BMX Racing representative on the UCI Athletes' Commission. One female and one male athlete will be elected to represent the discipline on the Commission. Candidates are:

Men
• James Palmer (CAN)
• Federico Villegas (ARG).
All athletes participating in the 2021 UCI BMX World Championships Elite races between 17 and 22 August in Papendal, the Netherlands, will be able to vote for one representative per gender. The vote will be held onsite during official training sessions and at the start of the races. The election results are aimed to be published on the UCI website on 24 August. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that Ryan Nyquist (USA) and Nina Buitrago (USA) have been re-elected to represent BMX Freestyle Park riders on the UCI Athletes’ Commission, in a vote organised during the 2021 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships that took place in Montpellier (France) from 4 to 8 June. Ryan Nyquist and Nina Buitrago were chosen from among the five candidates – three men and two women – by the athletes registered for the event.
Nina Buitrago obtained 70.7 % of the votes for the female candidates, while Ryan Nyquist reached 39.0 % of the votes for the male candidates. The voting participation rate was 65.1 %.
