The 2005 ABA Grands were one of the most anticipated Grand Nationals in years. With 2 riders standing out in AA Pro all season, it would come down to the main event to decide the title. Kyle Bennett came back from Knee surgery a few months back and has been on a hot streak, winning AA Pro at each of the last 6 ABA National events. Randy Stumpfhauser sat just outside of the top spot in the Pro Cruiser ranks and wanted to retain his #1 Pro plate. Both main events were full of excitement and surprises. Read on to see how the Double A Marketing riders finished up:
Kyle Bennett went into the ABA Grands with one thing on his mind, to win the AA Pro Main on Sunday. As things kicked off on Friday, at the Pro Spectacular, Kyle looked to be on track, as he was out front all night on his way to the main event. When the main event gate dropped, Kyle was off the pace just a bit and finished up 3rd overall. Impressive, but he would have to do just a bit better to capture the ABA #1 Pro title. On Saturday and Sunday, Kyle went unbeaten on his quest to the title.
As the mains loaded up, it was going to be an all out battle between Kyle and Bubba. Kyle would need to beat Bubba by two places in the overall to take home the title. As each main event of the 3 ran, it was evident that both Kyle and Bubba were the stand out Pros of the weekend, with Bubba edging out Kyle for the overall win. Kyle finished up the day and the year in the #2 spot, quite impressive considering that he had knee surgery mid season! Congratulations go out to Kyle for a great season and to Bubba for another impressive season. Look forward to another great year of racing from Kyle next year.

Randy Stumpfhauser went into the ABA Grands with a lock on #4 overall in AA Pro and just mere points out of the #1 spot for the Pro Cruiser title. It would all come down to the Cruiser main event for the title, and
Randy would need to beat Donny Robinson by one spot to take home the title. As the gate dropped, it looked like it was all over for Randy, as he immediately clipped out of his pedal and was in last place, just 3 pedals into the race. With his never give up attitude, Randy clipped back in and raced his fastest to catch up to the pack. As fate would have it, Donny, not knowing Randy was in deep trouble, went for a risky move in the first turn and would pay the consciences – going over the first turn and opening the door for Randy to win his 5th Pro Cruiser title. Randy finished up 4th for the day, but with the points to take home ABA #1 Pro Cruiser Title! This ups his current record for 5 ABA Pro #1 titles.

Cristian Becerine had a great weekend at the Grands. He started things off on Friday night, where he placed 5th in the Pro Spectacular. On Sunday, Cristian was in the AA Main and was looking to be the spoiler for the AA win. Cristian was the other standout in the AA main, as he finished up 3rd overall and made the folks over at Crupi proud. Cristian heads over to Switzerland later this week for an invite race and we will have a report on that for you.
