Vance Weisendanger had some ups and downs. Of course he made all of his main events with some glimpses at Gold, but at this stage in the Game, Vance comes to the race to win. All of his teammates are very impressed with his skill and track savvy. He will be working closely with Jrich (Jason Richardson) to ensure consistent top-three finishes as the season goes into full swing. By the way, Vance is also training and testing as he gets ready for the Sea Otter Classic.
Greg Romero rode well in the "Desert Storm" conditions all the way to a 7th place finish in AA.
Derek Betcher unfortunately had to beat out teammate Greg Romero for the final qualifying spot to get in to the UCI Elite Men’s final. Derek was composed and sarcastic as he rode to a podium finish under the lights. We broke out some new uni’s for the weekend. Most seemed to did the new threads, so we were psyched.
The Haro guys will be back just in time for a another chapped, wind-blown, sunburn time this week in Phoenix. Until then,
Jrich.
Double A marketing BMX Race Report NBL Silver State Nationals Las Vegas, Nevada.
The NBL held round #4 of the 2006 Pro National Series this past weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. Along with the NBL Pro series event, it was also a round of the UCI North American World Ranking series. The Nellis BMX track is one of the Pro s favorites on the NBL Pro tour, with a high speed, technical track showcasing the pros speed and skills. Randy Stumpfhauser, Kyle Bennett, and Dale Holmes made the trip to Nellis for the Silver State Nationals and here is how each one of them finished up in the main events.
Randy Stumpfhauser has had a great year so far in 2006, with wins in both the ABA and NBL Pro series events. At Nellis, Randy was consistently our front, winning motos and in all of the main events that he entered. With over 25 Pros in attendance, it was one of the toughest National events to make the finals at this season. On Saturday, it was a long day for the Pros as they raced both the regular NBL Elite National as well as the UCI round. Randy looked great and kept the consistency rolling into the main events, as he placed 2nd in the NBL Elite Series and 4th in the UCI Finial. On Sunday, Stumpy was on point again, this time with a 3rd in Elite men. Randy wrapped up a huge weekend in both the NBL and UCI points chase and looks to be ready for this upcoming weekends ABA Winter Nationals in Phoenix, AZ.
Kyle Bennett as well as Randy has win sin both the ABA and NBL this season, and Kyle sits near the top of the NBL pro points. Kyle know that it doesn't matter where you sit in the points mid season, its all about after the main event at the NBL grands, so he is working on getting great results at each event, to put him in title contention come NBL grands. On Saturday, Kyle looked wicked fast all day long and was in the NBL elite main event. Kyle was off just a bit on his start, and Kyle would wind up 8th overall. On Sunday, Kyle was on point all day and took the Sun Ringle Hole shot award and the $500 to come with it as he lead the main event all the way up to the last turn, but a small slide cost Kyle the main event win, giving his a 2nd overall. Donny Robinson was the winner of Elite Pro both days and congratulations go out to him.

Bombshell/Avent Riders winning in Vegas. By Press release:
Las Vegas, Nevada – This last weekend was the 3rd stop on the NBL/UCI Pro Series and what a race it was! The race was in Las Vegas on one of the best tracks in country. We are talking fast first straight, and flow all the way around. Friday everyone rolled in and the track looked great, all groomed and smooth. The temp outside was perfect all weekend long, but mother nature wasn’t going to let us off that easy. Horrible winds all weekend long with 40+ mph wind gusts! The track was great. The racing was tough, Our pit was full of riders the whole weekend. One of those being our newest addition, Vet Pro Kiyomi Waller.
Kiyomi’s resume is a who’s who of action sports, riding for Fox, Oakley, Shimano, and GT to name a few. This southern California Vet is bringing a wealth of knowledge to our team, and he proved how skillful he is this past weekend. Saturday he cruised qualifying Moto’s. The main event carried over to the later evening. With a good position in lane 4, Kiyomi got a good start but got distracted in the first straight and was in 5th out of the first turn. He worked his way up to second and came up a half wheel short of first.
Sunday again he blew through Moto’s and was able to chill and take a ‘sit-down lap’ to save energy for the Main. Earning himself another good gate position in lane 5, he got a great start. He drafted first, following him until the last turn and made a pass that held, and went on for the win! When asked what he thought about his new ride with Avent, Kiyomi had this to say, “Avent/Bombshell makes racing so much easier and fun when there’s a professional pit-area to prepare and be accessible to spectators.” Welcome the new Professor of BMX. Kiyomi Waller rides for Team Avent/Bombshell.
In UCI Elite Open, Tyler Brown got one of his best starts of the weekend and won his semi for a spot in the main. Tyler was on the outside in the main and got squeezed. He was able to come back for 6th. AA Pro Sunday in the semi he was 6th into the first turn, and was able to make a good move for 3rd and went on to get 2nd for a spot in the main. In the main the outside gate got him again. He got hung out in the first turn and wasn’t able to make up any ground taking home 8th. Pro Open in the main he had a good start, he and teammate Jarret Kolich owned the top two positions. Another rider got by them and they were on the hunt the rest of the track. In the last turn they both went for a move, but Tyler had to settle for 3rd place podium.
Saturday was tuff for Jarrett Kolich, which forced him to regroup for Sunday. Sunday he was finishing top 3 every lap. He went on to qualify out of semis and ended up finishing a 4th in Elite Men and a 2nd in Open. “I was happy to end on a good note, after how Saturday went so I just want to thank Danny and Buffy Meadows at Avent/ Bombshell for the awesome camp set up and for all their help.” – Jarrett Kolich.
We would like to congratulate all our Bombshell Co-Sponsored Pro riders. GT rider Randy Stumpfhauser for pullin a 4th in UCI, and podium finishes Saturday and Sunday. Free Agent’s Kyle Bennett UCI top ten finish, and main maker both days with a podium 2nd on Sunday. Javier Colombo, doing it for SE with a 10th on Sunday. CMC’s Jason Rogers riding away with a 7th on Sunday.
Big Congrats to GT’s Joey Bradford for earning 2nd place in UCI Junior Men’s on his F1 forks.
It’s a nice feeling come Sunday Elite Pro main and 5 out of the 8 pros on the gate choose Bombshell F1 Forks.
“I'm very proud of the AVENT/BOMBSHELL riders and there professionalism on and off the track. you guys ROCK and I believe the BMX world has found out that we have a strong pro program, that can only be added to with the wisdom of our fast and stylish Vet Pro Kiyomi Waller. This group of riders make a solid and respected team and I'm lucky to be working with them.” – T.M. Danny Meadows
Our next event will be the ABA Winter Nationals in Phoenix this coming weekend. A great track and always one of the best ABA races to go to.
