Cup standings. Sharrah is not only fresh off of his win at the USA Cycling BMX National Championships, but the 19-year-old rider also took the win at round one of the Supercross World Cup in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa earlier this month. Sharrah will be joined by two other automatic qualifiers: David Herman (Wheat Ridge, Colo./Intense BMX) and Josh Meyers (Treasure Island, Fla./Ss quared-Answer), who earned their spots on the team as the eighth- and 12th-ranked riders in the UCI’s Supercross World Cup standings. Rounding out the men’s team will be discretionary pick, Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro-Rockstar).
Three talented ladies will make up the women’s team as Brooke Crain (Visalia, Calif./Haro-Rockstar) and Alise Post (Saint Cloud, Minn./Redline Bicycles) both earned automatic nominations to the team by virtue of their 12th- and 13th-place rankings in the UCI’S Supercross World Cup standings. Arielle Martin (Spanaway, Wash./Intense BMX) will also represent USA Cycling as a discretionary selection in Papendal.
The Papendal Supercross World Cup is open to all elite and junior-level championship class riders, born before 1994, that hold a USA Cycling BMX international license. Eligible riders can register for the event now by logging on to their My USA Cycling account. Registration costs $165 and is open until 5 p.m. MST on May 11, 2011.
