It feels great to be back in training with the team, but the first few weeks felt really tough! Now I’m back in sunny California for training camp… After being out for several weeks due to surgery and a forced vacation it was pretty tough to pick up the fulltime training program, because I didn’t have my workout routine for weeks… My wrist and shoulder healed up quickly, so I was able to do most things soon. Having the plates and screws removed feels a lot better. Only the scars can be sensitive sometimes.
Being back in training with my teammates feels good. We all like to achieve our dreams, so we need each other to get better, faster, stronger and also support each other in good and bad situations!
Normally we go to the US or South Africa for our first (winter) training camp in December. This time we stayed in Holland and trained at the Olympic Training Centre. Luckily the weather wasn’t too bad, so training outside was no problem most of the time.
January 4th the Team and I flew to sunny California for a 3-week camp. The first week is already done. We’re still lifting a lot of weights in the gym and riding our road bike. This is a very heavy period, because we also start doing sprints and skills on the BMX bike, which feels really hard after not riding the track for months…
I’m starting to feel stronger, more relaxed and I know it can be even better when my sleep quality goes up! For this season I’m still working on some new personal sponsor deals. More info soon!
