Sometimes people we know have different hobbies next to riding BMX. 414's Shaun Scarfe has been riding Speedway forever but had a hard time finishing up a complete season because of all the BMX travel, riding and work. It looks like Shaun is doing well this year planning around the Speedway races that have been going on. He's even in the championship hunt. Go Shaun Go!
Here's a few pictures and some comments from Shaun who is busy organizing the BMX part at the Bike Show in Coventry at the moment. Will we be able to celebrate his championship there?
Shaun: "The racing is going OK, by that I mean I lost 3 points last weekend to the leader, we are fast on track but reliability has been so bad. Every time I have mechanical trouble and get a No Finish, I loose points so I spend the next 2 or 3 meetings with winning and claw back those points, then I have mechanical problem again and loose them."
Scarfe continues: "I have been beating the under 21 British Champion the last few weeks and hey, I am 34 now man."
There are 2 meetings left this season and Shaun is 2nd in the championship standings just 4 points behind. Scarfe has to win and Scott C. has to finish 3rd in at least one race. We wish him all the luck he needs and that also includes no broken forks and no checking the oil mid-race.
