Then I drove over to Haro & had a meeting with Brad Lusky. I gave him my sponsorship proposal & schedule. I ended up hanging out there all day talking to him & Dean Moore & Jim Ford (The 3 big wigs – they’re cool guys). It looks like everything will work out! Came back home & went out to eat with Cara. She dropped me off & at night I couldn’t sleep. Too excited!”
Looking Back Now: I remember getting a call out of the blue from Mcgoo telling me that Haro was interested in sponsoring me. Like for real sponsorship with entry fees, airfare, and rental cars all paid for and even a salary! I wasn’t sure if I believed it or not when Mcgoo called. Remember, at this stage in my life, I was working at GT three days a week and barely getting by. I was living with Bill Grad at the time & paying $180/month for rent. Shoot, I don’t even think that I owned a car at the time!
I was well impressed with the Haro offices. They were a “real” bike company with real employees and real money. Most of my prior bike sponsors were pretty much on the small scale compared to Haro. I laid in bed that whole night just thinking and dreaming of being a “Factory Superstar!”
Photo: That’s me gettin’ my 360 on over the famous Dover Cliff Jump. And I think that’s Dave Perrick filming for one of his videos. I think it may have been “Dirty Deeds.”
