How many racing kits do you normally have during one season of BMX racing?
Trent Jones: Usually three but asphalt turns take a couple of casualties
What career number is printed on the back?
Trent Jones: 17
What do you look for in protection gear? Comfort? Weight? Quality? Pricing?
Trent Jones: Comfort vs protection level
How does it feel showing up at a race with brand new gear?
Trent Jones: Look good, feel good, am I right.
What happens to your old gear at the end of the season?
Trent Jones: Usually use it as training gear. Save the good stuff for racing.
You ripped your gloves. What do you do with them?
Trent Jones: Depends how bad. If I can salvage them with a quick run through a sewing machine I'll do it. Yes I own a sewing machine, haha.
Do you save a jersey yourself from each season?
Trent Jones: Usually I save one from each season.
What’s a product you can advise every rider to use?
Trent Jones: Elbow pads. Asphalt turns and human skin don't mix.
Do you think certain protection gear should be mandatory or do you leave that up to the rider himself/herself to decide?
Trent Jones: I don't think it should be mandatory. But more fool them not to use it.
Any advice to the BMX racers out there?
Trent Jones: Don't take the perception that pads aren't cool. There's a good chance your favourite rider is wearing them in someway.
