some of Europe's best are on the way to Slovenian capital. Italian Marco Radaelli is the 2021 junior world champ and 13th from the 2020 U23 World Champs. Dane Magnus Dyhre won the 2022 European Cup overall standings in the U23 category and took 3rd on the European Champs in the same age group, he was also already on the World Cup podium. Italian Giacomo Fantoni is also on-route to Ljubljana, fans know him by his 18th place from the Tokyo games. Belgian Mathijs Verhoeven and Italian Martti Sciortino, both multiple national champions, will also fight for their share of UCI points.
Of course we can go past Belgian sisters Balle, Dorte and Rikke. They will race together with the boys, but with top-10 results from the European Champs they might serve us with a surprise or two.
Over 150 riders from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Slovakia, Ukraine and of course Slovenia have signed for the race. Local riders are expected to aim for the top spots in the junior categories, but they will not have an easy job on the home turf.
Both races in Ljubljana are part of the regional cup dr. Auer Alpe-Adria BMX and Slovenian national cup, Sunday race has a UCI C1 status, meaning that top riders also get qualification points for Paris 2024. Sunday's race will have a live broadcast on www.bmxraceljubljana.si.
