Record breaking 173 riders from 7 countries entered the fifth edition of BMX Race Ljubljana, with most prestigious victories going to Malene Kejlstrup (Denmark) and Martti Sciortino (Italy). Racing on the opening round of the dr. Auer BMX Alpe-Adria Cup and Slovenian BMX Cup was on high level throughout the categories and in many motos intense till the very last meters of the track. Highlight of the race weekend in Ljubljana was of course Sunday’s Championship/C1 race with many of the strong contenders from the biggest European races and candidates for Paris 2024 and future Olympic games. World and European U23 champion Malene Kejlstrup, racing for the Danish national team, came to Ljubljana as a strong favorite, but made a small surprise with entry for the Saturday race.
BMX Park Ljubljana is getting ready to host the fifth edition of BMX Race Ljubljana, the biggest BMX race in the region (April 22/23). Race will open dr. Auer Alpe-Adria BMX cup and is of course part of the Slovenian BMX Cup, at the same time the Sunday race will have a UCI C1 status and a hefty price found, making it a good opportunity to get some UCI points towards Paris 2023 qualies. BMX Race Ljubljana is growing with each of the editions, and the same is true for the 2022 race that will take place at BMX Park Ljubljana on 7th & 8th October. In total more than 150 cyclists from 10 European countries have registered for the race, including some big names from the European Cup & Champs and even Olympics. Both races are part of the Alpe-Adria BMX cup, Sunday race is ranked higher - as UCI C1 race - and will also feature live broadcast.

Sunday race has a UCI C1 status, while the whole event is part of the Alpe Adria BMX cup and Slovenian national cup. Race is tempting due to great prize money and live broadcast, so it’s no surprise that riders from 8 countries have already signed up. Riders from six countries finally felt the excitement that you only experience standing still behind the start gate, listening to the familiar “Riders ready, watch the gate… PI-PI-PI, BAM”. BMX Race Ljubljana was a great success, with great racing in all age groups and great battles between Hungarian Bence Bujáki and German Axel Webster. “We’re so happy to be back racing,” was one of the most commonly expressed sentences during the race weekend in BMX Park Ljubljana. Riders from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy and of course Slovenia should have been on the Olympic break right now, but instead they only had the first race of the season. Eager for racing they showed great performance and very close battles on two completely different races.
Ljubljana will host biggest ever BMX race in its modern history. There are already way more than 100 riders from Austria, Denmark, Italy, Hungary, Germany & Slovenia registered, and you be able to watch all of them in the live web stream on Sunday. Live stream of the Sunday race will take place on Facebook profile of Cycling club Rajd from Ljubljana (@KDRajd). Stream will start at 2 P.M.
