On May 7 and May 8 2010 the world’s best BMX Supercross riders gather in Copenhagen Denmark during the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup presented by Swatch. A record number of 180 riders from 22 countries have signed up. At stake are not only points for overall World Cup victory but also the first vital Olympic points leading up to London 2012. Next to that this Supercross World Cup is the last event of this type before the UCI BMX World Championships in Pietermaritzburg South Africa in July.
Mens favourites On Friday May 7 the event will start with the qualifying time trials followed by the finals on Saturday May 8. Among the male favourites are
Maris Strombergs (LAT) the Olympic Champion of 2008,
Sam Willoughby (AUS) number 1 on the world ranking and winner of the Madrid stop in March 2010 and
Connor Fields (USA) winner of the 2009 Chula VIsta leg and runner up of the Madrid stop.
Donny Robinson (USA), the current World Champion, is injured and will have to miss this stop of the UCI BMX Supercross
