You made the switch to Deluxe, how did that happen?
Sven: The switch from Premium products to Deluxe bmx was a result of a couple of things. When I was offered the opportunity to ride for deluxe there was not a single doubt in my mind to go for it and stop riding for premium. Premium products is an amazing brand with good parts and amazing frames and they took good care of me. But I'm a trail rider all the way, I'm not into the circus and play station tricks and I just love digging with my friend and riding a spot you and your friends create. For me there is no better feeling and this is the philysophy behind deluxe bmx and how they design their bikes. I think premium is more into street and park and that's how they design their frames. This caused some trouble for me when I went riding 'bigger' trails. My friends and the trails is what I live for and that's what deluxe is all about.
What colours could you pick from and why did you pick this one?
Sven: Clearcoat, black and tan are the colors I could choose from. I want a bike that stands out, I love black bikes but for the moment I've had it with black and I want something special. Clearcoat is awesome and this was actually the color I really liked. Problem was that there are 3 guys I ride with who are riding a clearcoat frame. I'm blessed with the sponsorship of deluxe and I want people to notice this seeing my rad looking bike. So tan was the color I had to go for to stand out and I couldn't have wished for a better color for my bike. I love it!
What are the plans with Deluxe for 2011?
Sven: So far the only thing I know is that there is a possibility we will be riding some trails in France with the deluxe bmx team this summer. My goal is to dig and ride as mush as possible on our local trails and I really hope I get a chance to go ride some trails the US and A! I've been riding with Mark Potoczny, also one of the deluxe riders and he's got an amazing spot in Pittsburgh. I really hope to ride them this year.
What's the Top tube size of the frame you're using right now?
Sven: Top tube size I'm using now is 20.7. I'm a small guy and I'm told deluxe frame feel bigger when you ride them. I've tested a 20.8 frame from Premium last year and when I checked out some video's of myself I noticed that my riding was cleaner with the 20.8 frame so that's what I based my decision on. Problem with the premium was that it was off balance when I took some air time but I'm not having this problem with my deluxe frame.
It looks clean, have you used it on dirt yet?
Sven: Not yet, you caught me with your camera a little more than 24h after I was able to complete my bike. Some parts are already different right now. The trails are not rideable yet but I can not wait to take it to the trails! That's going to be paradise. haha!
