What parts do you go through the most?
Hard to say. Maybe tires or grips. I don't like riding worn out grips so I prefer to replace them pretty often.
Describe your bike setup and how you like your bike to feel?
Simple, reliable and reasonably light. Some say that I have a a bit odd preference for bike setup. Usually I like to ride bigger and faster stuff so I want the bike to be stable but at the same time I really like manouverability of short chain stays. It makes a so much more nimble and controllable. Bunny hops and manuals are more effortless and the bike feels really responsive. Short chain stays and long top tube is the way to go! Apart from that I always have my tires filled up as hard as possible. When riding ramps I prefer something around 100-125psi, naturally a lot less for trails though. Loud rear hub is a must as well!
What parts are you most particular about?
What parts makes the biggest difference? Frame, bars and grips matter the most. As said before I like certain type of frame geometry. As for handle bars I can´t stand bars with little up sweep! 1-2 degrees feels just horrible. 3-4 degrees is where I usually aim. Grips are important as well, if they´re too thin or thick it makes the bike feel weird.
What part of your bike you like the most?
That´s a tough one. Maybe the frame because of the looks, feel and geometry. Rear hub comes a close second though! Light, reliable and loud! Loudest there is probably..
Do you remember your first bmx bike?
Yeah, definitely. It was a Diamondback Viper. 1-pc cranks, chorme bars and forks and the top tube was something like 22” long. Quite a beast..
Any custom mods on the bike or is it fully stock?
The front hub and the sprocket couldn't be any more custom because I've designed and made them entirely myself. I study mechanical engineering so making bike parts came as a natural transition. The sprocket and rear hub are both made from aerospace grade 7075-T6 aluminum, the best stuff there is for this kind of application. So far they've been running problem free. Other than that everything else is pretty much stock.
Who do you like to thank?
The list is long: First of all Signature bmx, Mikko and Antti are doing great job over there to help the Finnish scene grow. Niels at Sunshine distribution and the guys at Wethepeople. Naturally all my other sponsors deserve a big thanks as well. Apart from that shout outs to everybody who has helped me along the way! Whether it's been at home or when I've been on the road.
