Weight: I really don't care how much it weighs, if it feels good, it is good.
New bike, happy about it?
Desmond: Hell Yeah! I got the opportunity to ride this frame instead of the international I was riding before. With the weather getting better and trails season coming up I love to have a steady bike that feels good. Can't wait to try it out om some big ass dirtjumps!
Would you feel the difference if someone would change your frame without knowing with a frame which has a 1 cm shorter top tube?
Desmond: Haha, everybody always ask if I even looked at the specs of a frame before building it up. To be honest I don't know a lot about geo and stuff. I once read something about it and I know I like 21 inch TT so I search for a frame that has a slight longer rear end than normal to get comfortable at big jumps. But to answer the question, I think I wouldn't recognize it.
Do you prefer a longer top tube and a longer back end on big trails for a more stable ride?
Desmond: I never rode something other than a 21 inch top tube. I love the longer rear end for some big jumps so it feels more stable in air. Lately I tried Stuart Gibson his new ride and that felt way too short for me! So yeah I love a bit longer ride, probably because of the racing history.
What tricks have you mastered since you got this new Kink?
Desmond: Pff.. Good one, Since the weather was shit we weren't able to ride outdoors in Holland. The new 040 bmxpark is an amazing indoor spot that just opened and I rode there a lot already. Starting to feel comfy on the ramps and did some new stuff. One handed cannonball was something I had seen Roy Groenewegen do before and I thought let's do it on a bmx. Other thing is that I started to do opposite 360's and they are getting better every session, even got some combo's down already.
Did you modify anything? Top secret pro stuff?
Desmond: Except for the super wobly rear rim I did nothing to the bike. Put it together at once and it feels super comfortable now. Put up my seat a bit more for cannonballs and tried some slight more forward angle for my bars. Bike feels great now!
Thanks to: Jay Roe at Kink Bike Co! Really happy to be hooked up by the brand and going to represent them as hard as I can.
