With the filming of the Mega tour 4 done last week I decided to pop in Props Mega Tour #3. Where some companies are having problems collecting footage of each rider for their video, the Props crew collected 57 hours of footage in a good week. Mega Tour 3 had 6 teams present with a bit of Shitluck action added. UGP, Mutiny, Blacken, Empire, Hoffman and Profile were the other six. The tour touched the states of Oklahoma and Texas and many skate parks, street spots and some trails were visited. It also shows you have to drain a pool. The first attempts were with buckets of water until the water pump was fired up. To dry the thing up completely it was set on fire. It resulted in good footage though.
The filming on the intro combined with the music/editing is beautiful. Some of the street riding footage is on the dark side but what can you expect when you ride those spots when it’s dark. The UGP crew brought the generator with lights out on several occasions which helped with the view for the riders and the overall picture.
Riders that stand out on Mega 4 are Jake Finley who definitely made the best of his time on board of this road trip and delivered with loads of opposite stuff. Morgan Wade is insane and likes to go big. Another rider who is not afraid is Brian Kachinski. Mucho respect to Brian for picking up his bike again and again after so many (rail) attempts gone wrong. He doesn’t stop until he nails it. It’s hard to limit to a few guys as all of them are shredders.
The Blacken team definitely spiced things up. They’re a wild bunch and I love it. They even went sky diving with the Hoffman crew. Mat Hoffman also gave a demonstration with his propeller-parachute set up and flew over his own halfpipe with the thing.
The video is a great way to get a good picture of what BMX freestyle is all about. New tricks, finding spots to ride, encouraging others, music, friendship, spending time in the car, getting hurt, fixing flats, good times, adventure, parties, they all lead to memories. If you can’t wait for issue 4, #3 won’t disappoint.
