A while ago we received a pair of THE Maxi guards to try out. We've done so and they came through the test well. They're comfy to wear and not too bulky, but still padded enough that they work on impact. Even slipping a pedal to the knee took the hit even though there is no hard plastic shell connected to it. You can wear them underneath your pants and strap them on with two straps so they sit tight. The liner makes sure it stays in place as well. You will have to take your shoes off to put them on but that's the effort you've got to take if you don't want to mess up your knees.
The Maxi pads have been tested to be more impact resistant than traditional hard pads, but are soft and pliable. German-engineered SAS-TEC viscoelastic insert foam immediately reacts to impacts by hardening and dissipating energy throughout the guard. Anatomical shape and a special low-friction Kevlar provide true allday comfort.
