What an intro. I like it when people go out of their way to make something good. Chocolate pudding wrestling with strippers might not have anything to do with BMX but a little fun here and there never hurts.
The riding isn't a let down either. Surprisingly
Danny Hickerson starts off the riding with a eye-contact tailwhip bunny hop. He later does tailwhips to icepick to tailtap on a sub box, tailwhip pocket airs and 3-whips to manual to 180 over a spine. Insane.
Jim Cielencki is the tech wizard and shows he's got more up his sleeve than sliding down rails in 149 different variations.
A good thing about the Cheap Thrills DVD is that the riders come from different parts of the country which leads to various unique riding spots. Some ghetto, some pools, lots of street stuff and also trails. KC "Chunky Monkey" Badger is the flow man until he grossed me out with his broken ankle. His foot was pointing 90 degrees in the wrong direction.
The comic style cover art is rad. I dig it. Must be from the hands of Roni, one of FATBMX's early 'zine contributors and director of this KinkBikeCo video.
Ryan Sher is always delivering some unique footage on or off his bike. The entertainment rate goes up when Ryan comes on the screen. Dirty Dan delivered with a great part in tight jeans. As far as Chris Arriaga, Ian Munro and Rob Tibbs are concerned, I leave their part up to you to check out.
There's another Friends section that has footage from Markus Wilke and others. Also the "making of the intro" gets added as a bonus. You see what it takes to make a few minutes worth of film. Good to see the 2B homecooked guys in there, still having fun.
The video itself is 30 minutes long. It's got 40 minutes of bonus footage and some hidden sections. Those who know where they are, send us an E-mail, they aught to be good.
On a scale from 1 - 10, I would say the Cheap Thrills video is a solid 7 in my book.
