The AST, the umbrella brand and organization of the world’s most prestigious action sports events, today announced the AST China Invitational skateboard competition and BMX vert exhibition will be held April 18-20, 2008 in Beijing. BMX vert legend Jamie Bestwick of England will join fellow AST BMX riders for a fan-friendly exhibition on the vert ramp.
“We are thrilled to expand the AST brand to the international stage with our first skateboard competition in China,” said Wade Martin, AST president.
In what could only be compared to a roller coaster at Disney World, Bubba Harris’ weekend in Florida was definitely thrilling, with lots of ups and downs, and finished up on Sunday with a big smile - and the thought of “let’s do it again.” FRIDAY: In the motos, Bubba was lookin’ close to his old self, making passes to the front and working the dog-legged last straightaway rhythm section like he owned it. Passing riders on the outside line; while most chose the shorter, inside route. But Harris is still lacking power out of the gate, and he’s the first to admit it.
I've said it before, it's fun to check e-mail. You never know what shows up. Over the weekend I received an e-mail from Kevin Martin the former 2-HIP King Of Vert and Meet the Street announcer and Club HomeBoy wear owner. I could go into the story about setting up a booth at the ASR, my first trip to Dallas from San Diego in the GT van, the Guns 'n Roses concert we visited where Peacy puked out of the window, too many good times. I'm sure they'll show up in one of the FAT-'zines over the next couple of months. Anyway, back to Kevin.

A few weeks ago I rode my dirt bike for the first time again after two and a half years off the KTM. I had a few crashes, some hospital time and a crooked bike so it took a bit to throw a leg over the buddy seat again. I survived, the bike survived and it was good fun. The opening round of the Open Dutch MX championship series took place in Gemert today. With half the GP riders there we had to go take a look even though the weather report was terrible (and they were right this time). Time to see how it is supposed to be done.
