The Redland Youth Plaza is a brand new $1.01 million dollar multi-purpose skate plaza, BMX and youth facility in Capalaba, Queensland. Set to become the biggest facility of its kind in South-east Queensland, the construction of the space has been highly anticipated amongst the Australian skate and BMX community and young people in general.

To celebrate the opening of this incredible public space, the Concrete Carnival is being held as a free event on Sunday 9 December. There will be live bands, DJ’s, skate and BMX jams and demos, heaps of giveaways, arts and cultural workshops, live graffiti art demonstrations, special commemorative ‘Redland Youth Plaza’ T-Shirts for sale, free fairy floss, and even a carnival ride!

Bands performing at this free event include Another Day Down, The Optimen, and recent winners of Triple J’s Unearthed competition, The Gifthorse.

The Concrete Carnival has been organised by a group of local young people, community groups, business owners and Council representatives, known as the ‘Plaza Advisory Crew,’ who have been mentored by Plan C and Redland Shire Council in events production, marketing and group governance skills.

Get ready for the biggest occasion in South-east Queensland skate and BMX for the year. We look forward to seeing you at Redland Youth Plaza on Sunday December 9 2007 for an awesome day!

-9.30AM:REGISTRATION FOR SKATE AND BMX COMPS OPENS
-10AM: SKATE AND BMX COMPS BEGIN
-2PM: BANDS, WORKSHOPS AND ENTERTAINMENT BEGIN
-3PM: OFFICIAL OPENING
-7PM: EVENT FINISH.

Loosekid Industries will be providing the BMX demos and competitions. There will be heaps of awesome giveaways up for grabs in both competitions. Under 16’s must preregister with parental consent. Get there early to register as all competitions are operating under a ‘first in best dressed’ rule.
