We can’t complain about the number of concrete parks being built, but sometimes they’re just too far away. Sure, you hit the streets looking for spots, but have you tried the local BMX track? Times of sticking out your foot when entering the first turn are over. First of all, the MX part has disappeared out of BMX. Dirt first turns with loose dirt where you had to stick out your foot are hard to find. BMX Tracks have concrete or brick turns now and with everyone clipped in, it will be rare to see a rider dive in the first turn with his foot sticking out.

Here's a scene report without giving out the exact address. Might be worthless that way but I managed to find the place and nobody was there so it was not possible to speak with the locals on how they thought about getting their trails some publicity. Needless to say, the place took some time to get to where it's at right now. The take offs are steep, the berms are fun and there are all kind of transfer possibilities. It's a bit downhill too so difficult to judge the speed at first but once you've got that part down it's all about the flow.

It rained for 6 hours straight last night but the trails didn't show any damage. In fact, a little rain was welcome now that the final work is taking place at Patrick Guimez' local spot. The set up with two drop-ins needs to be ready for the upcoming Lords Of Dirt comp (15-16 August) as many top dirt riders are coming over for the event. Some companies do cooler stuff than others. Carhartt does some good shit. After checking out a photo expostion at their flagship store in Hossegor we got directions to the Carhartt Pirate Ship in the industrial estate. The fence was shut but we climbed it to get some up close pics of the boat. Looks damn fun. I'll have to send an e-mail to Mike Emde to get permission for a session soon. Mike?

Todays lesson is building a bmx park and working with your local Public Officials to make it legal. Some years ago we here at Psykopath built a bmx trail park on private property because the county officials said there was no land available, we ran this private spot for a few years and even had it sanctioned by the NBL. We held time trail money races, dirt jump contest, BBQ's, and a lot of late night sessions (RIP Psykopath Trails). The County Code Enforcement Department shut us down because the land we had

We've passed "Autobahnkreuz Moers" plenty of times on the way to Cologne or some other trips down to Germany but we never managed to stop at the public trails spot until recently. Wish we'd done so earlier as the trails do look promising. It had rained loads a couple of days before and the bigger line was wet and had a few puddles. The little line was muddy too but I didn't make a stop just to look at it so I hit them up and got myself dirty. The small line is a bit too easy and the other line looks challenging. 

Unfortunately there's no RedBull Backyard digger planned for The Netherlands in 2009 but the spots they created are going strong. The RedBull diggers have now arrived in Latvia to give the riders over there a way to create their own dirt spot. As always RedBull makes sure that all the work gets documented and with this little report we're going to show you a few pictures from the new spot over there. Dig in!

Yesterday Philip and I drove over to Dimitris' trails in Asten-Heusden. Dimitri has been a familiar face at all trails jams and we'd heard that he started building a spot himself. After getting some directions off of him at the Hellentrails Jam we were off to Asten on a Monday afternoon. We drove straight there in 30 minutes and met up with Dimitris who showed us the lines including a little oval where Philip could ride. The bigger 8-pack to the end of the place has some big kickers and the last one is a transfer to the right. A 180 turn leads you to the line back which has all kind of jumps. Always nice to ride new spots, especially if you make it through. No starting hill here either so get your bike into gear. Jam session soon. We'll keep you posted.

In between dying his hair and playing his vast collection of vintage Sega games, Fox/DC/Eastpak rider Colin Loudon designed and built some sick new jumps. Assisted by the staff at the Giba Gorge park his plans went from scribbles on a small piece of paper to the images you see here in just a month. The cool thing about Colin's design is that there are lines everywhere and jumps for all skill levels. I even saw some old dudes in spandex roll over some of them on

We can't really complain about the number of trails we've got going near the house. Helm Trails, Sugar Hills, Pony Trails, a couple of BMX tracks around but we had not been to the Dommelen trails yet. When you try to find a new spot and don't know where to look, it feels good when you finally get there. Although the jumps were far from rideable when I arrived I saw the lay-out and hope to be able to make it back at some point. Some work has been put in in the meantime
