San Diego, CA – BMX World has announced Avent Cycles A Pro Darrell Dawes as their official Pro Test Rider. Darrell will be bringing a balanced Pro perspective to all the new products in the industry, at a level you want to compete in.

"We wanted a pro that would give us an honest opinion when doing our bike test. Darrell Dawes is not only a good rider on the BMX track, but can tear it up on the trails as well, so it was a no-brainer for us. Plus, the guy has style for days, he makes it look effortless. We feel his riding will translate great onto the pages of BMX World Magazine. So if you haven't heard of Darrell Dawes, get ready to, the guy can ride." – Greg Leasure.

Darrell is currently sitting 24th in the ABA Pro Circuit.

AA Pro Augusto Castro is up and training for the 2006 season. In 2005 he went down in a race and broke his shoulder. He recovered fully and came back and won the Bolivarian Games. He is expected to race all of the major Nationals in the U.S.A. Augusto is an ambassador for BMX and has his site focused on 2008 Olympics.

Anthony Pill is spearheading the Dark Matter team. Dark Matter is an underwear and sock company. Pretty much everyone could use that hook up. Pill went to work and before there is even any product out, he already came up with a killer team.

Intense World Team Member, Michael Robinson competed at Centenary Plains BMX Club in Australia for Round 3 of the UCI World Ranking Series on January 8th in Brisbane. Michael has only competed in one other round, so he is playing catch up in the points. Due to a huge thunderstorm the night before the race, the track was extremely soft and soggy, making the race that much harder on the Elite riders.

All of the top elite riders from the Australian and New Zealand were in attendance, other that Warwick Stevenson, whom is still recovering from Knee Surgery, so the competition was very strong. Following a disappointing 8th place finish at the UCI final the weekend before at Round 2 in Nerang for Michael, he was ready for a good main event result. As the main loaded up, it was easily one of the hardest main events in the history of the Australia series, with the best 8 riders in the country all in the main.

H3 Publications has ceased production of Twenty BMX magazine. It came as quite a surprise to Justin and me, Kevin McAvoy, although we were aware of the sufficient risk in launching a project of this magnitude, we were under the impression that financing was in place for 2006. It’s obviously very disappointing to us, as we felt we were on the right road, developing Twenty into the premier magazine encompassing all aspects of BMX riding. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t have launched at a time when BMX magazine sales across the board were stronger; H3 is a startup, and doesn’t possess the deep roster of other titles that larger publishers do, so they couldn’t support Twenty until the market came back around. Regardless, we had a great time putting the magazine together, and we thank everyone who supported us, from H3 for giving us the opportunity, to our advertisers, to the many readers who told us they liked what we were doing. We even thank the handful of haters who, by their very identity, unknowingly confirmed that we were doing the right thing.

The BMXinvasion bike battle 6 competiton was overwhelmed with riders. It started out at 9am and ending at 8pm. A grand total of 117 riders from the east coast showed up to show their stuff in one of the toughest underground bmx competitions.

A young 16 year old ripper Garrett Reynolds took the first place trophy and prizes in pro with a flawless run.  A rider who calls himself "little Jeff" out of NJ took first in the expert class and got swarmed with congratulations from his friends and fellow riders. Jeff was stoked on his first ever win in bmx competition.

I was also pleased to have the Monster energy crew on board this year and they were handing out tasters through out the day to the riders and anyone else who wanted a top of the line refreshment. Special thanks from me to the east coast Monster energy representative Stephen Catalano for hooking us up with the product.

Dave Mirra has joined the SNAFU forces and will be helping them towards that ever-elusive goal of taking over the world. Well maybe that's being a bit too ambitious, so let's just say Dave’s on the team and everyone at Snafu is psyched. Here's a list of all the team guys for 2006.
