How many years ago did you start riding BMX? Emilio Falla: The other day a kid asked me this, and man it sounded crazy, but it’s been 32 years of riding a BMX bike.
How was racing BMX when you lived in Ecuador? Emilio Falla: In Ecuador we have a small series. I believe it’s only 7 stops, so it’s the opposite to the USA or Europe where you race more often.
Being a two-time Olympian representing your nation, how did that make you feel? Emilio Falla: I’ve said this many times. It was an honor and a dream come true, specially being there as one of the pioneers of BMX racing in Beijing 2008. For sure I wanted a different outcome in Beijing and London but that’s BMX. It’s a beautiful sport but sometimes it’s brutal and everything happens too quick.
BMX Race Ljubljana is growing with each of the editions, and the same is true for the 2022 race that will take place at BMX Park Ljubljana on 7th & 8th October. In total more than 150 cyclists from 10 European countries have registered for the race, including some big names from the European Cup & Champs and even Olympics. The Commonwealth Games Federation, Victorian State Government and Commonwealth Games Australia today revealed that a wide range of riding and cycling events had been added to the Games program, to be held across regional Victoria including; The Commonwealth Games debut of BMX Racing.
Shepparton is set to become an epicentre of cycling action, hosting the men’s and women’s time trials and the BMX Racing program.
