BMX is a good tool if you want to be successful in other sports later on. Riding BMX is also fun to get away from the actual training you're supposed to do. Over the last weekend round one of the Supercross series started in the USA. The MX2 class was won by BMX regular Josh Hansen and Ryan Villopoto won the MX1 class at Anaheim 1. Intense BMX is sending the Cycling Australian Elite High Performance BMX team five custom-painted Podium frames. Each frame features an Aussie-inspired graphics scheme in the official colors of the Cycling Australia.
Last month, Intense BMX, Sinz and THE finalized a deal, making the U.S. BMX frame, bicycle and components supplier the Official Product Supplier to Australia's top BMX professionals. The agreement with Cycling Australia is an extension of a less-formal deal in 2010 where the company supplied members of the powerful BMX Australia Elite High Performance Program with frames, forks, components, helmets and protective gear.

The metallic Aussie green frames feature graphics inspired by Aboriginal paintings, but given a modern twist. Each frame also has the rider's name--Rachel Bracken, Lauren Reynolds, Brian Kirkham and Caroline Buchanan-and the THE and SINZ Elite logos. The team received five frames, one for each rider and one spare. 

After two great years riding for Free Agent, I have chosen not to renew my contract with the company. I would like to say a big “Thank you” to Wen, Wayne and Vince at the FA home office and especially Dale, my TM for the past two years. I’ve learned a great deal about racing, being a Pro and the BMX business, for which I am very grateful. I’d also like to thank my former teammates, Maris, Kyle and Christian and everyone else for all the support, tips and friendship you have shown me during the past two years. This was not an easy decision to make, as I have enjoyed being a part of Free Agent’s “Dream Team”. However, I am going to explore other sponsorship opportunities in the immediate future that are more in alignment with my personal and professional goals. I will turn Pro in 2011 and continue working towards my ultimate goal of making the Olympic team. I plan to represent USA Cycling at all the UCI Supercross events and the World Championships and I also plan to race a handful of ABA pro series races and maybe even a few stops of the NBL Nations Tour in 2011.

SE Racing is proud to announce the addition of Barry Nobles to the factory squad for 2011. He will make his debut at the ABA Silver Dollar nationals in Reno, Nevada. Barry has been racing in the Elite class for 5 years now & has piled up 59 career podiums, 10 wins, and one Pro National Championship in the cruiser class recently at the ABA Grands. For 2011, Barry’s focus will be repeating his title on cruiser, earning a top three plate once again in the Elite class, and earning the ultra important points at the UCI Supercross races in order to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in London. 

The 2010 Swatch SX awards were handed out on Saturday at the Village Club in Frejus, France. With prices of 7 Euros per beer, the Cote d'Azur isn't the cheapest place to party so paying 25 Euros for the night with free drinks and food wasn't such a bad deal. The SX race in France was the last one of the year so that itself was a reason to party all together. The award winners that were there (Vettoretti, Willoughby, Connors, Andre and Long) enjoyed the night with their BMX racing friends. Here are the pics. Are you sure you're ready for this?

Maris Strombergs and Sarah Walker win UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Frejus Frejus, France 9 October 2010 - In an impressive finale Maris Strombergs outperformed all Elite men. The strong Latvian rider came powering down the start hill in front of thousands of BMX fans on the sunny south coast of France. Strombergs took the holeshot and dominated the remaining 30 seconds of the race from start to finish. With this victory during the last Supercross event of the season, the Olympic and World Champion also secured his overall 2010 Supercross World Cup title.

Maris Strombergs was ecstatic after his final race. “This is amazing. I felt so tired today. I was not expecting this,” Strombergs said gasping for air. “I was running a temperature and I could not have done one more race! But I kept focussed on this last one and gave it all. This is great. But I am not done yet. I want to win it all. Also the ABA Grands that are coming up in the states.”
