We've conducted surveys with our customers to see if they if they would be interested in a 26" cruiser, and we had such great response we decided to make it happen. There was quite a bit of excitement about the fact that it's an affordable bicycle that is still a BMX bike for older or lazy guys who still want to jump off curbs on the way to the liquor store.

Over the weekend an important NBL race took place in Las Vegas. Here are some race reports by Haro's Jason Richardson and Double A Marketing's Pete Delewski. Also the results are listed at the end of this update. Jrich is up first:

Chad Roberts Finally shaves his stupidly long, bushy, and grizzled Beard! Why? The duder (dooder) took home the big vet pro win wire-to-wire Saturday night after getting his bike stolen on Friday and building a new one Saturday with just 20 minutes left to practice. Go figure. Anyway, big congrats to Chad. 

The council involved in freestyle BMX contest? In Rotterdam the city is organizing a huge sportsevent for children aged 12 - 20 years. For the first time this year there will be held a BMX jam also. Just riding along with kids of your own age. Students are working on a simple course and some badass riders will be there to show off. For those good kids there wildcards to be won for The Final Battle.

It's for free, and kids you don't have to life in Rotterdam to join!

Tailwhip to icepics, crazy tailwhip transfers, pocket airs, front flips, no-handed 720-s and a new trick that I'm not giving out yet. 

Street luge and canoe sky diving didn't really fit the X-Games program but with additions like Super-motard (superretard) and now Rally racing, the extreme sports festival is turning into a motorsports event. Or maybe you can call it the Travis Pastrana Nitro circus show as he can participate in Freestyle Motocross, Supermoto and Rally racing at the 2006 edition in Los Angeles. Anyway, here's the press release on the addition of the latest sport to the games.

It's been almost 2 months since I've been in Peru. It has literally been a long and dangerous road. My time has been spent in highs of the mountains in Cusco and Macchu Picchu, all the way through spiral roads into valleys all the way to the desert coast of Peru. New adventures and wild rides are what this country is all about, the highs and lows are all around you, from the rich to the poor, from the desert to the jungle, it truly is a country of extremes. My time has been varied between many different sports, sailing off the coast of Lima to an island called Fronton (old prison), playing tennis, swimming, horse back riding and of course riding Flatland with the locals. 

On Saturday 18th March in Moscow, Russia at Europe’s coolest Skatepark “Adrenalin” a festival for alternative sport, music and street culture ‘EXTREME NATION’ was organized, resulting in the first Russian national premier for outstanding contributions to Extreme sport and business and the highest award in Extreme sport and business – Extreme Awards 2005.

BMX-ers have had their fair share of trouble with FMX-ers in the past. Let me recall the Troy McMurray vd Metal Mulisha battle that escalated at one of Todd Huffman's events. As in every sport there are good guys and bad guys. The good FMX-ers (read trouble free) have found themselves a gig at the Hardcore Freestyle Motocross tour that travels Europe at the moment. The first stop was in Antwerp, Belgium this weekend and FATBMX took a look.

Live Nation is the company that puts on the 3 stop tour. Frankly, it's a show and the people who are coming to the stadium pay around 30 bucks to be entertained.

Doug Martin has been hired as the new Director of BMX Programs at USA Cycling. The Director of BMX Programs position was created to help clarify and communicate processes and guidelines by which BMX athletes and teams qualify for competitions. BMX will make its debut as a full-medal sport at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Martin brings to USA Cycling more than 14 years of professional team management experience, including work with GT Bicycles, Nirve Sports, as well as World Championship and Olympic teams. “In addition to an intimate knowledge of the BMX industry and community, Doug brings a tremendous amount of experience organizing and managing international programs and teams,” said Director of Athletics, Steve Johnson. ”The addition of BMX to the Olympic Games is an incredible opportunity for both the sport of BMX racing and American cycling in general.”
