The latest Eurobike trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany was the biggest one ever. Even for BMX it had quite a bit to offer. Usually it's the same few big brands that show the new product but the 2006 version of it had the biggest ('core) German BMX distributors (Allride, G&S, La Finca, Unity) display their new stuff. Some had a booth outside (Allride, KingKong, Kuwahara, Perv and they were lucky with the super weather in Friedrichshafen. It was a stacked show which had over 31,000 trade visitors, 19,684 visitors on the Open House Day and 1,064 journalists from 32 countries.

August 31st , 2006, Lake Forest, CA - Heading into to 2008 product development cycle, Felt Bicycles announces that Alan Foster will be taking on the duties of an Assistant Product Manager for Felt BMX. Brian Wilson, Director of Product Development, said: “The new responsibilities of specifying the bikes and working with Asian suppliers are in addition to the duties already on Alan’s plate with BMX Team Management and BMX Marketing. Considering the fact that Alan is working essentially every facet of the BMX category, his official title has become BMX Brand Manager. SBS ADDS BATAVUS, WINORA & LAPIERRE TO THEIR DISTRIBUTION NETWORK, AND WILL START WAREHOUSING REDLINE BIKES IN EUROPE. Kent, WA: SEATTLE BIKE SUPPLY, an Accell group company and owners of the brand name Redline, have recently appointed additional distributors to broaden its reach in Europe. In the USA, Redline Bicycles continues to be an industry leader of BMX bikes in the racing and freestyle categories. The additional distribution channels for Redline will be BATAVUS, WINORA and LAPIERRE. Batavus will represent Redline exclusively in the Benelux countries, while Winora will offer additional distribution in Germany and Austria. Arcadia, California – After nearly 25 years of manufacturing the world’s greatest BMX racing components, Crupi’s current owner Benny Joseph is ready for a change. Benny, now 71 years old will be focusing all of his attention on his other company; Mortech Manufacturing and handing over Crupi to his General Manager and good friend, Greg Swingrover. Greg has an extensive background in BMX including 16 years of racing experience. Greg is the founding “S” of S & M Bicycles, a 10 year veteran with GT Bicycles as well as working the past 10 years as Crupi’s General Manager and front man. Greg’s vision for Crupi is first and foremost to continue making the best “high-end” racing components on the planet as well as moving the company forward with newer products and perhaps adding a more affordable line of racing products. 

The other day Omar who rides for Pyskopath Industries/Bikes invited me over to their ramps in San Undisclosed , California. Psykopath started out as a rider owned racing team and later added on a freestyle team as well as products. Their "training facility" and office is based out of a house with a large ramp in the backyard. The entrance to the office is the best part since everyone walks up the ramp and climbs through the window. Inside there are bike parts everywhere and if there were any strangled hookers, they hid them well. Zack Held the team manager showed me the prototype of their 5150 frame. It has been revised to include a Spanish BB, internal headset and they shaved a bit of weight off as well.

Greasy Comb Distribution has added a new employee to their roster. Dave Davenport is the newest member to the Greasy Comb Team. Some of you might know of Dave from his days at GT Bicycles, S&M Bikes/Fit Bike Co., and Tip Plus.

Dave will be helping out with Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, and Product Development.

Leland: Well Bart, first of all I sleep until noon, first thing out of bed, I put my hat on, then make a pot of coffee to start the day... sit in front of my computer in my underwear until about 3 or 4, checking e-mails and whatnot, making sure things are getting done, you know, real business stuff.
